i really enjoyed nationstates so far, but lately i am a little dissapointed in all the silly issues i have to vote on.
I would like to improve my nation but i don't see the use in voting for or against BDSM or Cannibalism.

I don't mind topics like this once in a while but when you get two of these issues in your mailbox everyday i don't see any real points of aproval for my state. Especially since a lot of issues than regular states have to deal with have not been brought to my attention yet.

So here is a list of issues that might be worth considering, i don't have a clue if maybe in the past they already were taken in, but maybe it would also be a good idea to kind of categorise all the issues you send. preferably into silly ones and none-silly ones. and general repeating ones that are actually important, maybe taken from the list of Human rights?

what about press-freedom, taxissues (i have 100% incometax in my nation, but not one issue in the last 2 weeks that could turn this around. Only more issues that could raise my taxes), new parties coming into existance, scientific funding, social measures, public hangings, etc...

What? BDSM and public nudity aren't social measures?

I actually think there are plenty of serious issues and enjoy a few silly ones now and then, but I guess to each his own.

I think the complaint is more along the lines of: how often do you pick up the front page and read about immigration, conflict, schools, etc.? Now how often do you read about public nudity?

While they are issues, by the very fact that there are only something around 200 nation states issues, and a large number of them concerned with drugs / sex / nudity, I don't think it is unfair to say that these topics are over discussed in NationStates.

There probably is a reason for that too ... I imagine many of the players are very much interested in debating drugs / sex / nudity, but that fewer of the players take that great of an interest in more "mundane" front page headlines. The NationStates UN is the perfect example of this ... I swear that some topics will never die there. (Though at the same time, gun control and sexual preferences are sorta big headline grabbers as well.) I just wish more UN players would grow a [bleeping] clue and bring their domestic issues to this forum and help us get more national issues.

hereĀ“s one from belgians past

a former headeditor of a newspaper is convicted for colaboration with the germans, as a result of this the belgian government takes away his political and civilian rights. therefor he can nolonger working in the redaction of a newspaper. he goes with this to the european court of human rights who decides that this measure is not proportional. no length of time is set for how long this will last.
as a result the belgian government changes the law so that now he is only excluded from working as a political journalist and there is a time limit to how long he loses his political and civil rights.

so here is a design of a possible issue

journalist convicted for war crimes

a let him remain a journalist
b dont let him be a journalist
c dont let him be a journalist for political cases, only sports or the wheater

I see what you're saying, I've only gotten ONE issue with a direct lower taxes effect, and as a trade off, crime shoots up >.<. And I am just NOW getting a issue that could help reverse the negative of my very first issue. Also, I'm not seeing any issues that can effect Politcal Rights, plenty of Civil Rights, several economy (usually with bad side effects), but I have not been able to even touch Politcal Rights yet. 2 possible solutions
1)New issues, and I mean NEW, not ones that are basically the exact same thing with different labels.
2) Up to 3 issues a day, that way people have a better chance of getting an issue that can get their nation out of a hole they dug themselves into.

BTW: Is it just me, or are crime and economy directly related?

The issue system is the only flaw I see with this game. RW, the economy goes bad, you can take immediate action to fix it. NS, the economy goes bad, you have to wait anywhere up to weeks to get a issue that can help. The game seems to be built around reactionary politics.

Hell yeah to the last poster. By becoming an "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy(I'm guessing by Centrist, it means centre-rightist)", my left-wing principles have been damaged. My country's f*cked up.

Yes, crime and economy are related. The ways to lower crime are large amounts of police funding and progressive policies in welfare and education. Both of those need tax money. Taxes=a bad economy most of the time.
