Curious about an issue choice

The Issue
In a bid to provide a new revenue stream for Eukaryote's Beef-Based Agriculture industry, it has been suggested that mitochondrions could be added to the menu.

The third possible choice:

"I am shocked and appalled!" declared SPCA President Falala Steele. "If anyone needs to be culled, it's us humans. The mitochondrions were here first, remember? We need to take this as a sign to get our industry--agriculture in particular--to back off. The mitochondrion is part of what makes Eukaryote a great nation!"

Er, that choice doesn't mean Humans will be culled, does it? Just in case, I need to kind of know. And, for anyone who guessed, yep, my nation is named after a type of cell. The mitochondrion is the site of respiration.

Thanks for any help.

No, it simply makes your animal a protected species.

Remember that issues don't affect your population.
