Title: Freedom of the Press?

Description:
@@NAME@@ has recently been criticized by the world for the lack of news coverage on national events occuring within the nation. This has brought about questions of whether or not the @@POPULATION@@ of @@TITLE@@ @@NAME@@ really knows what’s going on nationally or internationally.

Options:
1. “What are these international reports speaking of?” @@RANDOMNAME@@, Press Secretary of @@NAME@@ said in response, “Our government would never deny the people of our country the news of the day, we only share with them what we think they should know. Besides, if the people knew everything our government and politicans did, how on Earth would we be able to get anything done without the world breathing down our backs.”
Effects:All forms of media are under government control.
Statistics:Civil rights lessen immensely and government control tightens

2. “We must know everything going on in @@NAME@@,” shouts @@RANDOMNAME@@ at a rally for freedom of the press, “We must know every little thing going on everywhere to be informed citizens or else we should just go live like those in the Third World who have no idea of what is going on in their country or elsewhere. We must be informed! We must!”
Effects:Media begins reporting every single detail that happens within a country, including: Media reports on the state of your neighbor’s best friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s cat's hairball are common.
Statistics:Civil rights increase immensely and the economy rises slightly.

3. “Whadda ya talkin’ ‘bout, yo?” @@RANDOMNAME@@ slurs, “I ain’t want my name in the newz so every brotha’ and his ‘hood knows I stuck it to those kids . I ain’t want my momma findin’ out I be robbin’ suits for their bling bling.”
Effects:Media outlets are outlawed.
Statistics:Crime rises significantly.

Note(s): Suggestions added from Unfree People. Thanks!

So, what does everyone think? Any improvements need making? I love constructive criticism, so, bring it on everyone!

Overall it's a good idea... scuse me while I pick on some little things

whether or not the @@POPULATION@@ of @@TITLE@@ @@NAME@@ What exactly does the population macro do? "the 2.741 billion of The Free Councilate of Unfree People" sounds a bit odd to me...

“Our government would never deny the people of our country with the news of the day, you can take out the 'with', it is redundant

]Media begins reporting every single detail that happens within a country, including: Government secrets and the fact that your neighbor’s best friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s cat just coughed up a hairball. This could be worded to be a lot less cumbersome... like 'media reports on the state of your neighbor’s best friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s cat's hairball are common'

No news is reported at all within a nation; all media outlets are outlawed. again, I'd recommend you just stick with 'all media outlets are outlawed'

and remember to read the issue submission page and format it the way it tells you to, I believe it is a lot easier for the issue editors to edit your issue if its listed like that... this is a good issue though and I think you should submit it after a bit of cleaning

Option 2 looks a little too "right" to me...plus, I wrote an issue on press freedom earlier in which the choices were pretty similar with different effects, except option 3 was replaced with one where people could lose their jobs for false news reports - that option would make people print the truth the way they damn well should.

Well, I think I'll submit it anyway. What the heck, right?

Yeah, I'd pick two, too, just because it'd be funny to see how exagerrated news reporting would be.

Hmmm...I went ahead and submitted my "competing" issue despite the fact that I am generally too lazy to submit issues...

Good luck with it!
