OOC: Something random for first attempt at an Issue, so be gentle:

IC:

New Sport Walks into Danger

The Issue:
A new 'extreme' sport, 'Extreme Jaywalking', is sweeping @@Region@@, and this trend for crossing the road at completely random places regardless of traffic or number of lanes, has now hit @@NAME@@, and the number of participants has risen dramatically, as have the number of injuries.

The Debate:
1. "Duuude!" says overly-mellow Extreme Jaywalker @@RANDOMNAME@@, "this is way cool! Just think of the sporting heroes we can create from this totally radical new sport, dude!"
[effect] People blindly cross the roads at random without looking
[stats] Health decreases, Personal Freedoms increase, Intelligence decreases

2. "Ban this stupid sport!" says Traffic-Cop @@RANDOMNAME@@, "You cross when and where the sign says to, not when you feel like it."
[effect]Anyone disobeying the 'Don't Walk' signs are jailed
[stats] Personal Freedoms decrease, Health increases slightly

3. "This is perfect training for our hospital staff," says Hospital Consultant @@RANDOMNAME@@, "If we can guarantee student Doctors at government-sactioned events then Road Traffic Accidents will be more survivable. There'll be a lot more of them, of course, but that's sportspeople for you."
[effect] Medical Students are highly trained from practising at Deathsport events.
[stats] Personal Freedoms increase slighty, health increases slightly, public transport decreases slightly.

Good Issue but option one would make civil rights go up, not political freedom. Also is "Duude" a deliberate mistake?

Good Issue but option one would make civil rights go down, not political freedom. Also is "Duude" a deliberate mistake?

I would have thought that letting people particpate in this crazy passtime would increase personal freedoms to do what they wanted - I didn't mention political freedoms once.

And yes, "Duude" is deliberate, but maybe a few more 'U's would make it more obvious :D

But this sport doesn't really affect politics, it affects people's right to do stupid things with themselves.

It doesn't say political freedoms, though. It goes to personal freedoms, which affects the Civil Rights stat.

It allows people to jump into the path of oncoming cars if they want to, so their freedom to do what they want with themselves increases, therefore civil rights increase, yes?

Good Issue but option one would make civil rights go down

Am i missing something here?

Yeah. I was talking to Matthuis. This is becoming a very confused thread. ;)

Anyway... :D

As my month-long time in this game obviously isnt enough for me to recognise a good issue when it comes along  I'll just have to wait for god-knows-how-long to submit it.
