Last night a bombing at the largest abortion clinic in @@NAME@@ City killed an abortion doctor, two assistants, and a patient. The divisive issue of abortion has led swarms of protesters to come out supporting their various cases.
The Debate
1. "Frankly it's appalling that anyone can condone this action," clamors @@RANDOMNAME@@ of @@NAME@@ Planned Parenthood. "These bombers are common criminals threatening a woman's right to her own body. Abortion is a form of birth control and should be treated as such; it should be covered like anything else covered by health care."
[effect]teenagers are taught in school that abortion is a form of birth control
[stats]taxes increase, civil rights increase
2. "It's a child, not a choice," shout angry religious protesters waving signs. "These people who bombed this clinic are heroes, not criminals! We must ban abortion in all forms and award medals to those responsible for the bombing! Oh, and while we're at it, the church could use a little more funding."
[effect]the recent outlaw of abortion has abortion doctors both out of work and in constant mortal fear
[stats]devoutness increases, civil rights decrease, health increases, safety decreases
3. "The protesters are right, but we can't stop there," shouts pastor @@RANDOMNAME@@ from a loudspeaker at a church. "Abortion is a form of birth control, and birth control is against God's will. We must outlaw all forms of birth control and create an education curriculum that is strictly abstinence-only. And while we're at it, we want the church to hold more power over what can be taught in schools."
[effect]religious education is gradually phasing out science and history
[stats]education decreases, devoutness increases, civil rights decrease, safety increases
4. "Now wait just a minute," cry out a group of single fathers with their young sons. "We're all for allowing abortion, but we fathers are half the equation here. A baby's biological father should hold the right to stop an abortion if he wants to raise the child. Just because we can't give birth doesn't mean we can't raise children!"
[effect]many single and divorced fathers enjoy newly granted parental rights
[stats]civil rights increase, taxes increase
Could use some help fine-tuning the stats; options 1 and 4 have the same effects right now and I don't like that.
