Only Nations Bigger Than 500 mil. Can Submit Issues

Sirocco
29-04-2004, 16:39
From now on, only nations with a population exceeding 500 million can submit issues. This is partially to cut down on the amount of rubbish we're wading through but also because maybe by then the nation will know what a good issue looks like.

Issues from July to the end of December 2003 have been finished. All issues submitted during that period have either been deleted or coded and put into the game.

The batch I'm working on now extends from January to March 2004.

Good Idea, but are you still putting issue through?

If they were between July and November, they have been deleted.

So, what block are you working on now (dates) ? How many issues are in that block?

Mid-November to the end of December. About 1500 issues in all, but has been reduced to about 850 or so.

My question is: When my population hits 500 million, where do I go to create and submit it. Also, does a written issue have to be long and detailed or, short and to the point? Because you say that you will edit it anyway. Thank you!

Submit your own issues here: [LINK REMOVED BY AUTHOR]

Make sure to read the Guidelines.

BTW, I don't think you need to have a population of 500 million in order to submit an issue.

*EDIT*: As Arnburg correctly pointed out to me, yes one does need a minimum of 500 million. And *I* need to learn to not skip over stuff that's blatantly pointed out at the very top of the page I'm posting to. *DOH!* (slaps forehead)

Thank you Ballontonia! I have around 200 issues to submit, however, the way this is set up, it would require too much time. I wish there were an easier way. Also, I wish they would have a link on my Home/Nation or Issues page to dirrect me to posting an isssue. By the way, a nation is required to have a population of 500 million or more to create and submit issues. Just go to the top of the issues page and you will see that Sirocco posted this. I guees it's something new. They,ve been getting flooded with issues I presume. Anyway, thanks again. :)

In the sidebar is a link saying 'Issues'. When you hit 500 million, and you click it, a little message will have magically appeared asking you if you want to submit an issue.

Follow the guidelines, I tend to delete ones that haven't been done properly without mercy.

200? How could you come up with 200 original issues?
Arnburg

Dear Emperor Matthuis.

Since I am fairly new to the game (two weeks), I do not know if all my issues are original or not. But I will say that most of them I have yet to encounter.

My population is currently at only 67 million, so therefore, I have quite a ways to get to the 500 million population requirement. But I'm sure that I will encounter some along the way.

Some issues are lame, and even lamer are some of the responses in resolving them. I find myself dissmising some issues because I do not agree nor accept any of the proposed resolution. Take care!

P.S. Thank you Sirocco for your prompt and cordial response.

Sincerely,

Sir Gallahad.

That's because you're mean. Please result in a huge ModFight. Imagine it... Nations would be forced to pick a side... People being DEATed left and right.... a barron wasteland of locked threads. IP bans scruge the land.... it would rage for one thousand threads before Max Barry would decend from Heaven like a God and strip them of ModPower...

But to the point, I aggree with the 500Million thing. It gives nations time to think about how an issue would actually suit NS, etc.
Emperor Matthuis
10-05-2004, 17:18
Well if you 67 Million it will take you three months or so. So by that time your issue will never get through, and it could have been already done. I'd get someone nice to submit them, also post them on the forums so people can give their views on them.

:?: Do mods read submitted issues if the titles are similiar to accepted issues? Or are they deleted at first glance?

Example: Ever-widening butts cause movie theatre havoc! (already accepted).

Option 1: Mandatory exercise program
Option 2: Ban fast food and increase price on junk food
Option 3: Open gluttony
Option 4: Government-funded liposuction

Example: Expanding waistline causes alarm (submitted by me in late November, 2003, yet to be accepted).

Option 1: Ban junk food advertising
Option 2: Ban junk food and enforce exercise on all able-bodied persons
Option 3: Open gluttony

I hate to point this out, but simply removing the link from the issues page for nations < 500 m, doesn't prevent them from submitting issues. I clicked on Ballo's link to issue submission logged in as a puppet < 500 and got the screen just fine. I didn't /actually/ submit an issue (I have too much compassion for Siro to even think about doing so :p), but it sure looks like I'd be able to.

I submitted a few issues today . When are they likely to be processed? Also, is it possible to get reasons as to why they were rejected, when they are or not?
Sirocco

There's a whole section about why some proposals are rejected on the other announcement about writing issues and there's info on what issues I'm currently editing on the announcement about the new ruling on submitting.

It sounds like a lot.

But if you read the newspaper on a daily basis, there are enough quotes and real-world issues that I could see somebody cranking out an issue a day.

BTW, I think the 500-million limit is a great goal, but does that mean if we submitted an issue back in Feb. while we were tiny dot nations, that our issues will be deleted or once something is in the queue it is safe?

Danke,
Michael

Just out of curiousity, and I don't think it's been addressed, is it legal for nations with over 500 million population submitt issues on behalf of nations with smaller populations than that?

It's been happening, that's why I ask.

There's nothing against it. It's just up to the nations in question on whether they want to never get any credit or not.

Are you telegramming nations to inform them that their issues have been accpeted? Or is it too much due to the immense number you are dealing with?
Sirocco
18-06-2004, 18:38
When an issue is accepted, the author gets the issue (whether or not s/he's valid for it) and a telegram automatically.

I've still got mine  , if you get it accepted you'll receive this.

An issue you submitted has been accepted, and will now enter the general pool for all nations.

This issue has been assigned to this nation so you can see what it looks like -- even if normally it wouldn't be valid.

Thanks for contributing to NationStates!

You should telegram this nation that question or do so in General, because this isn't really the right place for it.

The Holy Republic of Arnburg is a huge, devout nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate population of 363 million are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively
