New Issue: Fusion Power

The Issue

The leading scientists of @@NAME@@, after many arduous hours of research, several gallons of coffee, and 3.5 tons of paper with various mathematical equations and algorithms scribbled on them, have discovered the secret to fusion power. However, the issue is whether or not such a perfect solution to energy needs should be implemented into @@NAME@@.

The Debate

OPTION1:

"THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!" Shouts angry coal miner @@RANDOMNAME@@ "My great-great-grandfather always told me that if it's too good to be true, than it isn't true!! I can guarantee these fusion plants will blow up and engulf the world in a nuclear fire that will kill us all!! And think about us miners, the guys in the coal power plants, the oil drillers, the super-tanker captains, the wind turbine operators, the solar plant guys, the photo-voltaic cell makers, the uranium miners, and every other power plant worker!! We'll all lose our jobs! Just give us some more funding and we'll improve our ways and hire more workers!! Not only will the environment benefit from us turning over a new leaf but the larger amount of workers will improve the economy!"

[Effect]The government of @@NAME@@ is pumping millions of @@CURRENCY@@s into its energy industry to reduce environmental damage and expand facilities for new workers.
[Stats]Environment minor increase; Economy moderate increase

OPTION 2:

"It's obvious what we need to do, abolish these dirty power plants and fully embrace FUSION!" says leading nuclear fusion scientist Albert Einstain. "@@NAME@@ will be much better off with fusion power. Think about it! It's clean, it's cheap, it's unlimited, and it’s powerful! Why wouldn't you want this? Of course, I'll only warrant the use of this power for non-violent purposes and only if it's used exclusively in @@NAME@@."

[Effect] The power supply grid of @@NAME@@ is regarded as the most prestigious in all of @@REGION@@ with the recent fusion power breakthrough
[Stats] Environment major increase; Intelligence major increase; Mining moderate decrease

OPTION 3:

"I don't see what all this ruckus is about." says your Economic Advisor @@RANDOMNAME@@ while eating a bagel smeared with fecal matter. "There will be no loss of jobs because we need workers to operate the fusion stations, operate "gas" stations to refill cars, transport deuterium, mine lithium, and to separate deuterium from water you need electricity so a few traditional power stations will be around to perform electrolysis on the water. However, there is the slight problem of getting the plans, designs, and other items from Einstain because we WILL be using this energy for weapons research and maybe we'll do a little selling of this commodity to less fortunate nations who are still reliant on primitive fossil fuels... So we'll have to erm... neutrali... I mean convince him to give them to us."

[Effect]With the advent of fusion power the government is making billions of @@CURRENCY@@s through power deals in @@REGION@@
[Stats]Environment moderate increase; Economy major increase; Cynicism increase; Intelligence major increase; Civil Rights major decrease; Military moderate increase

Validity: Nations with populations of 500 million or more

This is my first issue, so if you want to make any recommendations, feel free to.

Option #1 is good, so far as I can tell.

#2 should probably see a small hit to the mining industries, and drop the "its" from the effects line.

Cut down the effect line on #3(just seems too long as is). "It's rumored that @@NAME@@ earns billions of @@CURRENCY@@s through the selling of its power to other nations in @@REGION@@" is all that's really necessary, though it could be phrased "fusion breakthroughs in @@NAME@@ are giving a more ominious meaning to the phrase 'power company'". You might also want to add on a small military boost there too(from the weapons research).

I agree with Xaqon that would help. :)

I could have sworn I fixed option 3, but I guess I didn't.

Is the issue better now?

My nation already has fusion power. But this would again further back it up.

This is a well-crafted issue. Good luck with it!

Very, very well done issue (except in #2, why is it Albert Einstein and not @@RANDOMNAME@@?)...hope to see it in my issue dossier soon!

Look closely at the name, it's Einstain, I decided to have a little fun with my first issue.

But thank you and I have submitted the issue.

I didn't even realize my issue wouldn't be accepted until I hit 500 million! Oops.
