Banned cars and auto industry

Hopefully I've come to the right place about this.
Some time ago, cars were banned in Norrlaenna. But now the automobile manufacturing industry complains about cheap, foreign-made cars becoming more popular and thus their profits decrease making their future uncertain. I can't really see how importing cheap cars can be popular since the usage of cars is banned by Norrlaenna law. I can't really see either why there still exists and auto industry in Norrlaenna.

The automobile industry is still allowed to produce for exports, so it has a reason to exist. But right, the fact that this issue pops up is some kind of bug in the game.

Before this issue I was a "Father Knows Best State". The Dictatorship of The Benevolent was ruled by a "mostly-benevolent dictator" according to my nation's description. But I ban cars and boom! "Corrupt Dictatorship". Boom! I now rule with an "iron fist". Don't you think that's somewhat extreme?

Banning cars is somewhat extreme, though! :P

According to the NS Political Map Project (http://alces.sel.uaf.edu/gregg/ns/nsmap.html), you can get from an FKB State to a Psychotic Dictatorship by decreasing both personal and economic freedoms.

Personal freedom's certainly covered in this case. Not sure how it would affect economic freedom since, usually, loss of economic freedom == a tax hike, and the issue doesn't say anything except simply banning cars. Perhaps it's to pay for the public transportation buildup you'd end up with... just a guess, though. Issues can be sneaky that way.
