Some issues do assume too much

The issue being "Affirmative Action":

The Issue
After a recent high-profile case of a minority student being refused admission to a primarily 'white' college, civil rights activists, conservatives, and teachers are up in arms about affirmative action and ethnic equality in education.

I'm not taking a stab at affirmative action itself, however, I DO
have a question : What if your nation IS NOT a WHITE NATION?

Good point.

Do you have a suggestion for a better phrasing which would apply more generally? One that still reads well, that is.

I would suggest using Bigtopian and something else. You know, as they do with the television issue about portrayal of minorities on TV.

Perhaps, issues could be integrated that are approved based on such matters as generalities rather than specifics.

Good point, that really needs to be changed to "Bigtopian".

Good point, that really needs to be changed to "Bigtopian".
But Bigtopian is the minority group.

You can change 'white' college to 'rich' college.

Absolutely! We're struggling with this in Albia, Cottman IV, and Newish York. Issues seem to assume that....

countries are inhabited by human beings (not norns or clangers, etc.)
the time period is contemporary (not future or past)
technology is as in RL (not based on magick or matrix mechanics, etc.)
a form of currency is used
institutions such as marriage, schooling, bureaucratic government, etc., exist and are identical to those found in the US/UK

I could go on, but it would be futile and redundant.
