Question: becoming pro-business?

13-03-2004, 11:58
Although the founding principles of Evil-Catmandu were against big business and the private sector, we are hastily trying to reverse those decisions are doing everything we can to encourage a strong economy, and are trying to "revitalize the private sector", but still we are described as being notable for being anti-business, and our private sector is still outlawed...

But we are still a very young nation, so I'm just curious: Will these descriptions eventually fade away the more we support business in the issues we have? I didn't see an event for reinstating private enterprise. Or did I miss it?

Any comments or help would be much appreciated.

Issues can be used to shape your nation a lot. However, it is my understanding that the particular part of the nation description you are refering to is only based on the initial choices made when creating a nation.

Perhaps a moderator could confirm whether or not my understanding is correct?

I have managed to become one of the most anti-business nations in the world but still keep my frightening economy, so it can be done. Simply choose options which you think will improve your economy (mining uranium is a sure fire way to increase economy and give you a strong private sector) but also choose options in other issues which would promote equality, such as taxing the rich heavily and not allowing executives to form unions.

By doing this you can keep your founding ideals to heart and have a frightening economy, it may require some time though :)

If your founding ideals are anti-buisness, why should you care about how crappy your economy becomes? I have to put up with being told my Civil Rights are garbage because of my conservative decisions, but it's possible to be anti-buisness and have a high economy?

This game frustrates my logic more and more as the days go by.

It can't be done. I had a past nation for 6 months and I did everything but still anti business. That's why I'm trying to get this nation to become a free-market paradise.

I went and created a new, capitalist nation. Thanks for the replies, everyone :)

As a new member/nation I understand we are limited by certain constraints, but like a real nation would it not be possible to either go back and change our minds or from time to time be asked update questions. A reevaluation of our own beliefs per se.

Issue #4, Economic Collapse Looms, gives one the option of chosing capitalism but I'm not sure if a nation which already has an anti-business foundation gets it or if only nations moving in that direction do. I've gotten it in some of my nations but it's rare.

And yes, as you make choices and your UN Category changes the nation's description changes, too. I've been experimenting with trying to get different nation types from a totally different basic nation and even things like "a complete lack of prisons" will disappear from the description given the right choices.
