Thousands of pro-choice advocates filled the area near @@NAME@@'s capitol office when suddenly, pro-life advocate Benjamin Weisley rushed up onto the platform stage and took the stand. He then proceeded to hold a newborn infant as high as he could, quoted as saying "You're absolutely right! Let's do this to our children!" and stabbed it to death in front of thousands of pro-choice advocates. Local police have arrested the radical activist, but local courts are unsure of what to do with him. Several outraged groups and activits are currently petitioning the local government to take action.
Validity: Any nation that has not yet decided whether to legalize or illegalize abortion, but has been given the opportunity to
1) "This is my statement," says Benjamin Weisley, currently in captivity, "to all those baby killers out there. I figured the only way to make them see what they were doing was to show them right in front of their faces! Do you still think abortion should be legal? Then you can't arrest me, because I haven't done anything that those abortionists don't do! We're all killing infants, and if there's no penalty for that, then let me go!"
2) "But if you want to convict and punish me," continued the extremist Benjamin Weisley, "Then you have to do the same thing to all of those abortionists out there too! They all collectively encourage and murder infants, like I did out there! If I get punished for murder, so should they! I say capital punishment is due all around!"
3) "Benjamin is a total raving lunatic," says local pro-choice activist @@RANDOMNAME@@, "who needs to face the brunt of legal action immediately. He has misinterpreted the pro-choice agenda, and slaughtered an innocent in the process! What he has done has no relation to what pro-choice advocates do. I say lay the law down on him as hard as we possibly can, to destroy this senseless slander of the pro-choice agenda! Besides, if you punish him and illegalize abortion, you will be making the statement that if some raving lunatic commits a vile act in protest, that he will get his way. Are we to make a new law every time someone commits murder in protest of our laws?"
4) "I'm absolutely horrified by the whole thing," stutters @@RANDOMNAME@@, who was near the front of the crowd during the incident, "but watching that poor baby die gave me second thoughts about my opinion. That baby didn't choose to get stabbed to death, but there was nothing it could do to save itself...it was helpless...just like my recent unborn son. Benjamin is right in a way, but very wrong in many more ways. I don't think abortion should be allowed, and I think Ben should be punished by law for murder. But I'm still against capital punishment, because nobody should have their lives ended like that. He should spend a very, very long time in prison."
5) "This brings up an interesting point, albeit in a barbaric way." claims self-described philosopher @@RANDOMNAME@@. "If Benjamin achieves the desired effect of his action, that the majority of abortionists will stop supporting the act of abortion, then he has essentially saved a countless number of unborn children by slaying one. For now, he should be kept in prison, but if abortion rates drop sharply as a result of this event, then perhaps he ought to be released and pardoned of the crime of murder, based on the logic that he saved a great many more lives than he ended."
...wow, that was a lot more touchy and tougher to write than I thought, so I'm not going to put stats down for it just yet. I thought of this scenario when reading over other abortion topics, and I couldn't help but wonder what the people as a whole would do with a person that did that kind of thing. So here it is...I'm not sure if I'm going to submit it, but for now it's a very, VERY tough decision for me to make up in my own mind, so I wanted to see what you guys would think.
My opinion? I may be pro-life, but by that token, the above act is senseless murder, and I would have Benjamin sentenced to death on the spot, regardless of what happened to abortion. But it would be pretty hard to convict him without illegalizing abortion, but banning abortion would give him what he wanted, so that's a tough call to make too. I dunno about this one.
There's a lot of options for this, because it involves two issues: what to do with Benjamin, and how to reshape the abortion laws. If you think I left something important out, go ahead and let me hear it.
