Sakura Taisen inspired issue

12-02-2004, 23:11
I wrote this issue inspired by Sakura Taisen 「サクラ大戦」 (Japanese game and anime series):

Special Mechanized Defence Division

@@NAME@@'s Council of Wise Men, led by Count @@RANDOMNAME@@, wants to create a special ops defence division based on mechas (big human-piloted robots), specially designed to fight city disturbs and help in high emergency situations.

Validity: Not valid for nations with less than 15 million citizens

Options:
[option]"We should have done this earlier," says military advisor @@RANDOMNAME@@. "We should make every effort we can to make @@NAME@@ a safe place. Today it's about mechas; tomorrow it will be about fighting robot girls. Everything is welcome, and they will be our best spent @@CURRENCY@@s."
[effect]high military technology
[stats]tax increases a bit, economy increases a fair amount, crime decreases, the country produces robots

[option]"This sounds like a great idea!" says eccentric General @@RANDOMNAME@@. "The @@NAME@@ Special Ops Division will be our nation's pride. And it won't cost a @@CURRENCY@@ if we create an opera theatre company for our pilots to perform while they are not busy fighting inside the mechas."
[effect]eccentric but effective mecha-based military forces
[stats]economy increases a bit, crime decreases, public apathy decreases to almost zero

[option]"Mechas? Opera theatres? Give me a break!" said @@RANDOMNAME@@, a left-wing citizen, when asked about the project. "We don't want to be oppressed by obscure government plans! And besides, violence is not the solution to our problems."
[effect]humanist politics
[stats]social freedom increases, crime increases a bit

Sadly, it doesn't seem like they accepted it, because I posted it a week ago and haven't got any telegrams. Do you know how long do they usually take to review issues? And why could this issue be rejected?

Edit: Oops, I've learnt that publishing issues takes a lot of time, so maybe it's still on the backlog :) . I didn't know it's not a 2-3 day wait, sorry.

Well thats a very bizzare issue. Create an opera company for military personel to moonlight in, covering costs of a vast military project? Makes absolutely no sense. Dont think it will be accepted cos its too weird.

Heh, making cannibalism legal sure is weirder.

Sounds a lot like One Must Fall 2097.

All these new issues sseem to be revolving around games/movies/books.

don't expect any reply within a week, give them a couple of month to get to your issue :P

A month if you're lucky. There are literally thousands in the cue ahead of you.

Also, it seems that your Validif statement would have been better to be based on Military and/or Police spending and IT industry as opposed to 15 million, which is a rather small population, all things considered.
