WTF is with these issues?

I try to play this game seriously, and I love this game. Played it every day for 403 days. Now I finally just got sick of this. I mean sure I understand that the issues are overplayed and such; thats great but still. I remeber the first 30 issues were serious in a sense and were real things that came up and you could choose. Now I see myself dismissing more and more issues, which I never did till about two weeks ago. Think I am a little insane? Let us take a look as I scroll through the list of issues and rip arpart the one I stop on.

#84: Compulsory Gun Ownership?, #3

What we need is complete gun registration, so that the government can track down dangerous people, like those people who possess unregistered weapons."

WTF? How is my government to take this seriously?

#88: Cannibals Demand to Taste What @@NAME@@ Has to Offer
...I don't think I even need to state whats wrong with this one

#75: Cutting Off Sex Offenders?
Again I don't need to quote this, the whole issue is wrong

#66: Transsexual Demands Recognition in Chosen Gender
Same as above

#53: Orbital Armageddon?
Ok this may happen, but some nations in NS liek to be realistic.

#45: Baseball League Steps Up To The Plate
1. "Holy cow, is this gonna be great!" hollers BUBL President and sports nut @@RANDOMNAME@@, wearing a fashionable giant foam finger on his right hand.
This has to be the gayest line I have ever heard on a issue, and it has nothing to do with anything.

#38: @@NAME@@ Looks to the Stars
1. "Don't tell me space colonies wouldn't be cool," says excited fifth-grade teacher @@RANDOMNAME@@, still wearing big Spock ears from his last convention.
The only way to allow Space Funding is by listening to a 5th grade teacher. Not possible.

Ok enough of my ranting. I am just saying to get better and more issues. Or have the choice to get real issues or this BS ones. Real issues would involve creating biochemical weapons, dealing with hate groups, funding programs, buildings highways, adding cities, gay marriage, and so on. I want some of those. I submit them and they never get picked, only ones about baseball and transexuals do.

If you don't like 'em, dismiss 'em.
Why would we want to do that, when we've got this whole shiny forum in which to whine about 'em?

Not much help....I dismiss them but they need to be mroe serious. I didn't play over a year of this game to resort to dismissing issues about transexuals who like baseball games while being whipped.

Tis too late to make them serious :| .Dismiss them :|

RC:
Then I take it you're not going to like the issues I thought of last night and plan on writing out soon. One dealing with allowing swords in public (or reverting your military to more 'honorable' weapons) and one involving pirates attacking your nations shipping (one option would involve granting letters of marquee). :P
09-02-2004, 16:50
Do you have a problem with transexuals being recognised in their chosen gender? If not why not allow it, if so why not disallow it? I haven't seen this issue yet so I don't know the wording. You appear to be saying that it is somehow wrong to even consider this an issue?

Is it just me,or does that sound like the title of a Jerry Springer show?

Seriously, though,I've noted the same thing, and I always dismiss the ones I've already come across (which has been happening a lot lately...)

I dismiss half the issues I get. But the way I see it, it is true to life. Various interests go to the government with their problems, only to be dismissed with a wave of the hand or a puzzled "What is a transsexual?" It sucks, but think of it like this - you are the ruler, and all these peasants are annoying you with their silly problems. Suddenly, the way ahead is clear. Tell them to get lost. 8)

The only problem i have is about 50% at least of the new issues are "comedy" ones. Ok a few gimmick issues are fine, but when every other issue i get is about cannibals, aliens and bondage its pretty annoying.

I have a problem with this too. I seldom dismiss issues, as the point of issues for me is seeing how each affects your nation. I mean, yes, they're comedy, yes, the site is written slightly tongue-in-cheek, but I too would like to see some real issues picked and sent through. The issues that RedCommunist lists in his first post as ones he's submitted are more of what I, too, would like to see get through.

Looks like RC is taking the whole issue issue too seriously. These are just two of what, 4 or 5 options? AND THEY'RE FUNNY. i mean, really, it's not that important

but yes, a bit too many of them are too daft... if there were more that actually affected your nation in a meaningful way that would be good too.

Noted for future reference- next time I dig through the submissions backlog (probably this weekend- I'm rather hoping to get the issue count up to 100 by the end of the month), I'll look for a batch of more 'serious' issues to try and balance the goofy:serious ratio some

This is a game, and games need to be fun. I think we do need fun issues; otherwise, you'll cover pretty much everything in your first two months of gameplay - 120 serious issues is just about as much as you can get without repeating.

Also, I don't see a reason why we shouldn't discuss whether transexuals should have their own genre or not, etc., as Bolotrophism said.

I'd rather have lots of serious and fun issues to play 3 a day, than to have to stick to 1-2 issues at a day, moving strikers out and cloning my cats on a weekly basis.

In Marcelonia, we have a whole different approach to demands by socalled transexuals, it starts with secret police interrogations and ends... well u guessed it 8)

I also think it would be interesting if (not already that) the UN policies were given to the non-UN countries as well. Surely they have just as much right to decide on these issues as the UN?

I like the issues. The bondage and transexual ones are cool. They help make my country extra radical.

hmmm, I've submitted a serious issue about legalizing prostitution since last Oct, and I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one to have came up with the idea given it made a UN resolution earlier.

just wondering if my submission has been bypassed or is it sitting in the pile still? it was from last Oct...

Darn...I've written some really good ones, but most of them date from after the new issue system was introduced(a good bunch of my issues were branched from other ones or have entities introduced in newer issues). *hopes a mod reviews his issue about promoting tourism in the mountains*
