Does anyone know what option 3 (forced labor camps for criminals) does, and in particular, will it raise crime or reduce political freedom?

I think that crime would either be reduced or remain static. And I think civil rights will be reduced.

I guess we'll just have to find out...

Well, it doesn't seem to reduce political freedom (or at least not by enough to guarantee the loss of a whole leve), but the puppet I tried it on already had a "crippling" crime rate, so I don't know whether it raises crime. Surely someone must have encountered this issue before....

Civil rights were, indeed, jackhammered, but that's predictable.

Snigger at the wording at the end of option 3.

"...and these crooks get put straight. Everybody benefits... well, except the crooks."

Apparently the author thinks being set straight is not beneficial to criminals.

I usually pick the slave labor option. If I remember right, it knocked my Civil Rights a bit, but helped the economy and lowered crime a touch. But, I don't pay close attention to effects as much as I used to.

:) I thought that was amusing, too. Then again, it certainly doesn't help their criminal career...
