I'm an evil dictatorship...why do I have a 5% income tax? That's nuts.... Since I'm new to the game, I'm hoping someone can tell me if there any issues you run across that one of the results will dramatically raise your income tax? I've seen how to lower it...nothing to raise it...
Any help is appreciated....

Any issue which requires that subsidies be granted and in which you select the option with the subsidy will raise your taxes.
Here's (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53919) the text of the issues. Some of the ones that have government spending options are: 2, 10,14, 15, 27, 25, 31, 33, 36, 38, 40, 43, 45, 48, 56, 58, 59, 62, 66, 68, 72, 74 and 81 (I may have missed a few).

It is frustratingly easy to raise taxes (Rondebosch: currently at 98%...and counting...). It is incredibly difficult to lower them (for most civil rights loving people, such as myself).
It also helps (? :? ) to join the UN. Most of the resolutions end up raising taxes.
