A group of suffering school spellers are campaigning for the government to intervene and simplify the @@NAME@@ language.

"I'm sick of getting marked down on my essays just because I can't spell!" yells infuriated pupil @@RANDOMNAME@@. "The government is living in the past, discriminatifying against us bad spellers. Equality!"

Minister for Culture @@RANDOMNAME@@ has an alternative. "We really need to monitor our language: it is our history." At that point, a shady character steps out from the gloom. "Yeah," he (or she, or possibly it)says, "Control the language, control the people."

Thoughts? Similar to the minority language one, but I think it's OK.

it's good 8) :D but option 3 reminds me of the book 1984...and how about the student asking for him to be able to write in txt language i saw some kid do that for an essay

I like it! but split option 3 into 2 options: Historical controls on language (ie France) and political controls on language (1984 / newspeak)

And there should probably be an increase in funding for #2...

Ok, I've edited 2 but I'm leaving 3. Any more suggestions? I'm about to submit it.

The first two don't affect civil and political rights. Third one lowers both.

This is an interesting idea for an issue. It even allows you to get a 1984 style gov. going.
