Oi, all. After thoroughly badgering plenty of other people for their issues, some good, others ludicrous, I figured I'd toss one of my own on the table.
I believe there are plenty of options already in the game that bolster your country's "economic agenda" of sorts (e.g. Commerce, Law and Order, etc). However, I've been noting a staunch lack of ones promoting greater military power, and from what the U.N.'s been doing lately, anyone who might want to keep their defense forces up would likely appreciate this. In any case, check it out.

Issue #??: Walking tanks: Not just for Sci-Fi films anymore?
Description: Recent advances in high-end robotics and gyroscopic stabilization has caught the eyes of some forward commanders in @@NAME@@'s Army, who are now arguing for a high-performance "Multi-Legged Tank" to begin supplementing and replacing traditional heavy ground vehicles.
Validity: Obviously, this issue isn't valid for nations who don't have Defence as one of their top priorities.
The Debate:
[option] "One must consider that tracked armored vehicles have been in use by @@NAME@@'s Army since its founding," proposes Major @@RANDOMNAME@@, a frontline tank commander. "By bolstering our ground forces with these Multi-Legged Tanks, we can easily overcome any terrain hazards, not to mention providing a better weapons platform for even larger caliber guns. They will be costly, but we will be the envy of every other military in @@REGION@@ for certain!"
[effect] New building-sized Multi-Legged Tanks mounting enormous artillery have recently arrived in the Army's frontline forces.
[stats] Economy drops slightly, Defence is pushed up on national priorities.
[option] "This is preposterous!" Army Supreme Commander @@RANDOMNAME@@ exclaims upon hearing earlier developments. "As we advance technologically, we get even further away from the honor and chivalry of 'the good times' when I first joined @@NAME@@'s army. These new legged tanks are a disgrace on our great Army's pride and dignity! Furthermore, I want those insolent dogs on the frontlines court-martialed at once for even suggesting such ludicrousness!"
[effect] Honor and chivalry in combat is still taught in military academies nation-wide.
[stats] Defence declines slightly, Education rises a little (the other army isn't going to wait for your troops to line up and fire, but it does promote good morales and such in military-age people)
[option] "As though our Defence forces don't get their fair share of government funding, now they're asking for more funds for essentially untested combat weaponry?" A top economist in your cabinet, @@RANDOMNAME@@ states. "I think it's high time those right-wing warhawks start having to deal with budget cuts just like the rest of our government does."
[effect] Army top brass continue to protest renewed cuts in funding
[stats] Defence has a moderate decline, Economy rises a notch
I'm considering sticking one of those archetypal extreme left-wing "NO MORE BOMBS" issues at the bottom, but I find it all rather droll at this point. Besides, if your nation is getting this issue in the first place, you're supposed to be _Pro-Military_ as far as most things are concerned. Anyway, have at it.
BTW, if you all were wondering, I was thinking of using the idea behind the giant robot vehicle from Appleseed, if you've ever seen that fine anime movie.
