OK, for the last 3 month's I've been picking what I think would raise your economy but its still imploded. What issues raise your economy?

I think it's just anything that would protect industry - I've had issues on whether to introduce steel tariffs, mine uranium, that kinda thing... if you've been taking those kind of decisions and your economy is still going down, then perhaps your response to other issues has had an effect on your economy that you didn't notice at the time. I'm a fairly left-wing nation, so not particularly inclined to encourage big corporations, but my economy is currently rated as Strong, and the only pro-business decision I've taken is to introduce tariffs to protect local industry.

Having read what I've written I realise it doesn't answer your question :? but it's the best I can do...

Mine uranium, basicly pick the ones that might wreak your environment. That can be repaird later, but until you have fixed your economy. Thats the only way..

I think Letila means that you can have a strong economy, but your individual citizens will, in the main, be poor; or you can have a weak economy, in which case everyone is poor, but probably more equal.

My nation also seems to be trashing it's economy, having been reduced from good to developing. I have my suspicious about the pizza factories though, as they were weapons factories a couple of days ago. Is there a UN weapons inspection raid planned that my people are aware of but I am not?

Basically pick every option that raises taxes, and try to refrain from spending too much....also things like the issue over your beaches - pick the option that charges money and gives it to the Government; cease the gold for the Gov.t from the bottom of the lake....etc etc

I'm having the same problem. My economy has been imploded for the last two months and i know i've made good economic descisions. I think it's a computer error.

actually, don't raise your taxes, dropping them works, not raising them, always let your people have the money, don't fleece your people out of their wealth to the govt, and do not protect your industries with tariffs.

Free trade works, not protectionist policies. If you are ever unsure, ask a nation with good economy, and don't take advice from bad economies. :P

If you want economy, expect people to be unequal and some might starve in the streets.

I'm aware of most of what you guys said, what I was acutally looking for is a list of issues and decisions that will raise your economy and also ones that will lower your economy.

Some of the biggest ones:
Get out of the UN.
When your leading industry strikes, fire them all.
When people start whining about the Microcosm monopoly, tell them to get lost.
When corporations want to buy your politicians, let them do it.
When an industry wants subsidies, give them to them.
Allow child labor; better yet, subsidize it.

Privatizing beaches seems to be basically a freebie - you get a small boost at no cost.
Tariffs can raise the economy, but some have reported a lowering.
If you're really poor, letting people sell their organs may help a bit.

the payoff for tearing up your environment (bulldozing the rainforest, putting your national animal on the dinner table) isn't that great. Don't do it unless your're desperate or don't care about the environment.

What does the UN have to do with anything?
This is the first time I've ever heard of the UN affecting anything at all...

UN Resolurions change the stats of your nation based on what kind of proposal passed. The high amount of pro-environment (aka anti-bussiness) proposals recently means that the economies of UN nations have all been blasted to hell and back (not that I mind).

That's odd, as Frightening is stronger than Powerhouse.

Frankly, I don't see what all the fuss is about... Mine was frightening before the issue passed, and after it passed it was...frightening. Hasn't changed for me in something like 4 months. 8)

Having strong freedoms can help your economy. That means people can spend their money how they want it, when they want it. If some rich snob wants to buy a giant in ground pool and fill it with jello, then all the better to him!

That money will support the company, which will alow it to grow and hire more people. So more people will get jobs, and get more money to spend, growing bussiness, giving more people jobs and making your economy grow.
