Cable Executives Get A "Charge" Out Of Proposed "Execution Network"

Local cable executives are excited about a proposal to launch a new pay-per-view channel, Execution TV, where executions will be broadcast live.

Citizens will pay to watch executions, and the extra tax revenue raised will help defray the government's cost in executing criminals. We could even start a lottery for people who want to actually pull the switch, with all the proceeds going to the government...we could call it "Who Wants To Fry A Criminal?"
[effect]Execution TV has the highest ratings in the nation, and government coffers are filling up rapidly as the lottery for "Who Wants To Fry A Criminal?" hits record sales.

That's beyond sick! Besides, the death penalty is barbaric and wrong. We murder people to send the message that murder is wrong! The death penalty should be abolished!

I believe their should be a middle ground where the death penelty isn't abolished, but the PPV channel is taken off the air

I think there needs to be some sort of third choice, I hate it when theres not really any good choices in my issues.

Ok...let me think up a good middle choice, and then I can submit it again...that way, one will cancel the other out.

so a option that would keep the dath penalty but forbid the broadcasting of executions....lemme thik on that overnight...

Also, wouldn't Crime Rises Slightly go under stats not effect? (the effect is what it says in the nation description).

The mods tinker around with the stats the most (or so I've heard), but you might want a better effect for choice #2. Something like "crime is on the rise now that the death penalty has been abolished" ...

Abolishing the death penalty should not increase crime. It has not been proven one way or the other that the death penalty is an effective deterrant, since most criminals never intend to get caught it probably isn't.

I agree...but it is my way of throwing a bone to those who hold the wrong political ideology, okay?

And yes, to the above...you're right...it should have gone into stats, not effect...I wrote this at 2 in the morning...

Yeah. In fact, crime in states were the death penalty has been reintroduced has actually risen.

There are other things that could happen, beyond just middle ground. Good submission.

Could simply excute forigners [IC decrease of immigration], could have effect for option 1 where crime increases as criminals are made celbrities in their executions, could add an option for executing white collar criminals and adding their bank accounts to the public coffers.

Very good idea, I would suggest seeing wht else could happen that woul dbe entertaining.

Add an option for the execution of even those convicted of lesser crimes with no taxation for far-right nations, and make sure that the validity is only for nations with a legalized death penalty.
