Title: Invaders Cross the borders of @@NATION@@
A rag-tag group of Region Crashers who call themselves the DukHuNtZ DeathSquad have entered @@NATION@@ one afternoon while you were sorting through the national treasury. Unsure how to best secure your place in power, and in control of the national treasury of course, you turn to your advisers for assistance:
[option] @@RANDOMNAME@@, your chief intelligence officer and ambassador to the allied forces of @@REGION@@ offers the following advice, “We need to pull our forces together in order to tackle them militarily. If we can make contact with @@RANDOMREGION@@ and @@RANDOMREGION@@ within the next 24 hours, we should be able to launch an assault on these ruthless terrorists. Oh, and we need to purge the region of those who might be sympathetic to the underground forces. And did I mention an increase to military spending?”
[option] Disco Canker, your childhood friend turned personal confidante, smiles as he asks, “Why fight them? For a price, I believe we could work out an arrangement in which they technically take over power, while still granting you certain privileges. They might even let you make some decisions. At best, as a base region, the DukHuNtZ DeathSquad could bring your neighbors to their knees before us… I mean you.”
[option] Undaunted, you decide to ignore your most trusted advisers. DukHuNtZ DeathSquad, please. What sort of dorks would take a game about politics so serious as to come up with such a ridiculous name? And how dare they attack the head region in the Unicorn Brute-Force Alliance? What’s this, there is a rule that if they gain absolute power they can change the regional fact book? Clearly, there must be a rule against this. MOD ALERT!!! MOD ALERT!!!
Points of discussion:
If anyone likes the idea, I would appreciate help trying to decide between describing the group as “rag-tag” or “miscreant”. Please let me know what reads better.
Does the “national treasury” gag work? Would another one be better, or would it read better to just focus on the invaders entering, and what should you do?
I was also considering adding “And a pony. And, ahh, what else you got?” to the end of the first option. I was afraid that was too over the top, though. Any thoughts?
I feel that this is likely not in place now, but I wondered if there could be a macro for @@RANDOMREGION@@? I like the idea of having random region, partially because I imagine it would not be hard to create and mostly because this, to me, could be a way to get people interested in applicable regions. Also, can we have @@REGION@@ or something to show the region you’re in? Is this too much to ask for? IS there an interest?
Also, are there any angles I am leaving out of this suggestion? Another option you think I should include? I am afraid people are going to take option 3 negatively. I long considered an option 4, but to this point I feel that the opposing position for #3 is #1 in a lot of ways. I am afraid that people will just see option 3 as a caricature of those who whine about issues, which is not how I want to paint the anti-invader sect. As I see it the three options are 1) fight the invaders (and there are costs), 2) accept the invaders and try to turn it to your advantage and 3) do nothing, though complain about it. Again, the issues are attempted as humor, but let me know if these 3 parts do not take into account all possibilities.
Also, is the third option too jarring? I know exposing the “4th wall” does not always work.
Writing this I went back and forth between Nation and Region. I know issues this far are nation-bound, and that decisions only affect the nation. Still, I don’t think it hurts to mention the regions as I do, tho let me know if you disagree.
Thanks for the help.
