Issues and Decisions

23-10-2003, 01:07
Is there a way to view old issues? I would like to try to figure out which decisions I made led to which changes. Some of them are obvious, but some aren't. For example, in my nation, extreme political groups are banned. I don't recall a decision that led to that. I'm not suggesting that all the inner workings of the game be revealed, just that I would be like to be able to access a history of my nation.

Thanks!

I think thats the death penalty issue actually. You can look at the issues in Ballotonia's thread: Nationstates Issues*spoiler* (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53919)

Thanks, NuMetal. I guess I should have dismissed that issue. The choices really are either you get the death penalty, or you ban extreme political groups? Oh well. Do issues ever come round again so you can rethink them?

Yes (in most cases).

Yes (in most cases).

So the next question is: if it comes round again and I dismiss it, does that change my previous decision, or retain it?

Neither
Every time you get an issue its a clean slate.

For example, if you get the "Less Dictatorship, if thats alright" issue 2 times in a row and choose the 'Kill em all' option both times, then you will get lower political freedom/higher military & police (plus any other effects) both times, even though you are just using the same answer.

All issues choices do is affect stats, there is no 'your position on each issue' database anywhere. Once you choose, it modifies the stats and forgets that you ever got the issue (except in some cases where there is a special var, like the outlawing voting issues)

The only history available is the results of the last four decisions made, which are in your nations description. Right now this is:

High-income earners pay a 100% tax rate, surveillance cameras are banned, extreme political groups are outlawed, and lions are considered a delicacy.

These refer to the following issues and decisions:

Option two for issue: "Citizens Struggle Under "Unfair" Tax Burden"
Option one for issue: "Police Consider "Big Brother" Anti-Crime System"
Option two for issue: "Death Penalty on Agenda"
Option one for issue: "Lions on the Dinner Table?"

While the NationsStates Issue list provides the list of all issues, the effects as shown in your nations description are not included (it was argued to be too much of a spoiler).

Thanks. I agree with you there.
