These are codes for you to use within your issues to achieve nifty little things to make them more personal to the nation viewing them.

This code will mean that the name of the nation viewing the issue will be inserted.

Eg. The people of @@NAME@@ are tired of these high taxes... will be shown as The people of Myrth are tired of these high taxes...

This will show the nation's title.

Eg. The @@TYPE@@ of @@NAME@@ has for too long been supressing our cause! Our region is proud of its heritage, we demand independance! will be shown as The Socialist Superiority of Myrth has for too long been supressing our cause! Our region is proud of its heritage, we demand independance!

@@RANDOMNAME@@
Ever wondered why the names in issues change when you refresh the page? This is because dear old Max built us a nice bank of names to have in issues.

Eg. Minister of Finance, @@RANDOMNAME@@ calls for a reallocation of funding... will be shown as Minister of Finance, Max Barry calls for a reallocation of funding...

NB: The @@RANDOMNAME@@ feature is not gender specific. Don't users genders with this macro. You'll end up with men called Violet and women called George W.

This will insert the nations currency into the issue.

Eg. I'm sure high earners can afford to pay a few extra @@CURRENCY@@s in taxes... will be replaced by I'm sure high earners can afford to pay a few extra Myrthian Souls in taxes...

This will insert the nation's animal into the issue.

Eg. Hunters across the nation demand that they be allowed to shoot the @@ANIMAL@@... will be replaced by Hunters across the nation demand to be allowed to shoot the Black Dragon

Wanted to be able to find the thread latter after it disapears into the abis, and its easier to look in the "my past posts" area than file through dozens of pages or try a search that still brings back too many results. I can help out a little there -- my Frightening economy produced a 114, and presumably anything higher is also Frightening. My other nation, which has a Thriving economy, got an 84.

That URL shows entirely different numbers than what's in this thread.

For a while there was the ability to pull some numbers out of NS, which is what these posts were talking about. Since we no longer have access to these numbers, and they change all the time, the numbers above should be considered no longer relevant.

Access to those macros were disabled due to security concerns. They will not be re-enabled.

Also, I just read the issue "Minorities demand language blah blah blah". The problem was that the minoraties wanted their language to be recognized as official. The First arguement was someone opposed to that idea. If the minorities are raising the issue, they should describe their side first. Other wise it would be like a trial in which the defense goes first with their openning statements saying "He was innocent" but the jurors have no idea of what he is innocent of..

So when making issues, put the complaint or persons for the act first.

We are most distressed in our observation that regardless for whichever resolution we vote, if we win or lose, there is always an imperious message "laws enacted to bring us into compliance with the latest United Nations resolution". We have overlooked this at other times during the month, but our serenity is wearing thin.

I just created, founded the Kingdom of Havaii (Hawaii pronounced Havaii as that name was taken) and I dint do anything to make it that way like I did
Santa- Nita by going for the compromise allow limited uranium mining, If I do
than so be it, but that is so un-natural for Hawaii-Havaii is there any way
to change it now. I just passed the Green Belt Issue and got back my lush
tropical forests, lost my inhospitable landscape but at an economic cost and
higher taxes which I actually dont mind as long as I got rid of that but I should not have to wait that long if I dint do anything to make it that way.

If you decide on an issue then there's nothing you can do until it comes back round again.

I got rid of my inhospitable landscape and got back my many lush forests on
Santa-Nita island after passing the green belt law issue, at a cost of 3 points
higher on my taxes, which was more than worth it, and long after Passing the
el Sinsonte national bird protected species issue act, and I finally got rid of
the inhospitable landscape of The Kingdom of havaii Islands, Hawaii pronounced Havaii as that name was taken by 2 republics, by making the Havaiian (Hawaiian) Nene Goose a protected species, and expelling genetic
reserchers even though I never choose the issue to make Havaii a inhospitable lanscape thats the point I was trying to make, I thank You

So... is there a complete list of macros, industries and variables? We could write better issues if we knew all the options. Failing that, could all the various bits of data scattered throughout this thread be gathered into the first post?

Although I am still pretty new to NS and have not created any issues, I would love to submit some in the future. I agree with the earlier post regarding the @@RANDOMNAME@@ macro and gender problems. It would be nice to be able to incorporate gender into the issues. I realize that this would probably involve dividing the current name bank into 2 parts and sorting by gender. If it's not too much hassle for the mods (or whoever is responsible for the game structure), would you please consider using @@RANDOMMALE@@ and @@RANDOMFEMALE@@ in addition to what you already have in place? (The macro @@RANDOMNAME@@ wouldn't have to be scrapped. It could simply pull from both gender name banks.)

I suggest they rename Trout Fishing to just 'Fishing'. After all, humans fish all kinds of aquatic creatures for all sorts of purposes: i.e. shark fins, dried cuttlefish, enzymes of certain clams to make beauty products, etc.

When editing the issue code, we consider the 'trout fishing' sector to encompass the whole fishing sector so no need to worry.

lol....I can see the repurcussions of the change.....I check the thirdgeek site regularly. What I'm trying to say is that I don't know WHY it changed. I assume it had something to do with the issues, thought I don't even answer the military ones anymore.

The Scandinavian Federal State of Dunlend is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Are you using a 'web accelerator'? There have been earlier cases when those turned out to be causing the wrong answers to be taken for issues...

Actually Antarctic I believe I am, but I'll have to check into it to be sure....that's troubling though.

Hack: While I thank you for trying to help, you're not getting my point. I can see the current state of my military--it is obvious. My querry is to HOW it happened. My assumption is that the ONLY thing that can change your settings is how you answer issues, but I honestly did not intentionally answer ANY issue that would adversely affect my military (it affects my rp ability on my Western Europe forum) which is why I am puzzled.

Unless someone can help with that problem.....

The web accelerator stores frequently accessed pages on your ISP's server. If you picked choice 2 for yesterday's issue, but choice 1 for today's, the stored page might tell NationStates that you picked choice 2 for today's. Needless to say, that can screw up your intent.

Disable your web accelerator for nationstates.net, and it shouldn't happen again.

thanks frisbee....now i begin my long march to rebuilding my military. Overnight I went from being in the top 5 in military strength to the bottom 10 or so. Boy is this gonna be fun...lol

Okay, so I was reading the issue repetition thread and got REALLY worried. Since my military was mistakenly gutted, does that mean I will never again get military budgeting sorts of issues?

IF this is so, we have a biiiig problem. I'm willing to issue back up, but if I cannot it has totally screwed my rp ability in my region permanently...

Is there a way to set the copyright to 10 years?

I hope someone can edit the issue to add one option that includes Max' option.
