While I don't necessarily disagree with the concept of splitting off that side of the debate - it is debating what you presented in the OP.

No, I presented in the OP that this was an interesting weapon/device, and I wanted to know what else was out there.
You started debating how this particular technology could be used to enslave an entire country.
Those are two different trains of thought.

You're a liar.
Not only did I never discuss the concept of enslaving anyone, but I didn't even open that discussion - I merely extended someone else's idea that we should use them on everyone in prison.
You presented a source, and a question. Some people responded directly to the question (including me, actually - although my presentation of the ARWEN didn't raise so much as an eyebrow), and others responded to the "This is a really effective weapon/surveillance device. Kind of terrifying, but interesting all at the same time" part of the post.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea to split the thread.
