Can this thread be locked and removed, mods? Please. I think I ran off at the mouth.:$

I think it's fine, personally. Let's see where it goes.

Then let it run its course, mods. Sorry.

At the moment it seems very mannerly. We'll keep an eye on it. Too graphic = trouble, natch.

I think the thread has turned to just spam. It can be closed. Not only that, it went to hell a few pages ago before the spam. In retrospect, mods, it was a bad idea.

Thanks, Ardchoille, for letting it stay open. I thought it was going somewhere until crap started to rain. I know you're not here to answer whinny requests, but the thread was a bad idea on my part. My apologies.

Maybe you'll actually learn a lesson from the thread this time, Nanatsu, to actually discuss things rather than derail your own threads.

I'd like to say that on my part, I was interested in having a discussion--it just clearly wasn't the very specific discussion the OP was looking for. I thought some interesting points were brought up, and I learned a few things. I'm glad the mods let it stay open before it degenerated into two pages of misspelling my name, which, considering there are only five letters, is actually kind of impressive.

When you create a thread, you send it out and it becomes what people, including you, make of it. I don't think anyone should get to dictate retroactively how the discussion goes. A lot of the spam and sniping could have been easily avoided if the OP had posted some thought-provoking questions, countered criticisms with well-reasoned theories, and generally tended to and developed the thread, rather than taking her ball and going home.

I'm unsure when the "we don't close threads in general on request" thing quit happening. It seems that Nanatsu keeps asking for the mods to close her threads in general and y'all keep doing it.

I'm confused.

Then unconfuse yourself, Smunkee: the "not close upon request" thing hasn't stopped happening. There's a "split" request from Galloism hanging fire right now.

But when someone tells us a thread has turned to spam, and we check, and it has, we lock, regardless of who's doing the telling.

I don't think anyone can reasonably challenge Kryo's decision that two pages of mis-spelling Ryadn's name is spam, pure and simple.

We're paying more attention to players' thread management on the new forums, simply because there are a lot of newcomers who haven't yet understood the techniques that Ryadn described.

There have been, over the years, recurrent complaints about mods "interfering" too much in threads. Well, happy day, with two forums to moderate, we're spread too thin to "interfere".

We assume that the stayers on Jolt are largely people who have a clue about what they're doing. NS is still, to an extent, a guest on Jolt's forums. We'll stop people running through the halls naked, setting fire to the furniture, smashing the windows and tea-tray sledding on the stairs; but if all you want is the bed made or a cup of tea, it's going to be, "There's the jug, there's the teabags, there's the spare sheets."

Oh, and for those who haven't checked it out yet, here's the map to the new house: http://forum.nationstates.net.

I agree. That's why I want the thread to either be split or for a new thread to be created.

Incidentally I apologize for my contribution to the spam. I had thought it was going to get back on topic very soon.

I'm unsure when the "we don't close threads in general on request" thing quit happening. It seems that Nanatsu keeps asking for the mods to close her threads in general and y'all keep doing it.

I'm confused.

This is why I asked the mods to close that thread:

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14811060&postcount=29
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14811093&postcount=39

Not only that, Neo Art came in, guns blazing, insulting. When he was told that he was doing that, then we get Ryadn jumping in, alleging that I am not being clear on the OP about what's being discussed and yet, Jordaxia and Kyronea (who's just a nice little follower, true, and who always finds the opportunity to remark on his dislike of me [[mutual if I may add]]) got the OP.

After that, we get us Ryadn, Poliwanacraca (who also tried to contribute to the discussion at the beginning), Neo Art, Ring of Isengard and No Names Left Damn It (who seem to enjoy derailing threads for the sake of it), Sarkhaan (who tried to stir the thread back into topic, I admit that) and others talking about candy, Animaniacs (myself included), branding names on people's hands, going to gay clubs, oh yes, and you already saw that the last bit of that thread had to do with combinations of Ryadn's name. Ah, and let us not forget when Neo Art, so magnanimous, tried to make it seem like he was actually trying to engage in a real discussion (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14811203&postcount=92). This is what he should've posted from the beginning. This I can respect. His initial approach, no.

Criticism, I don't mind. Blatantly insulting just because, I don't need to tolerate. NSG is not about that, at least I don't think so.

Incidentally, this post, yours Smunkee, did contribute to the dicussion: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14811218&postcount=94. I hope your confusion's gone. Ardchoille let the thread remain open because it was civil. But that civility went out the window. So, I asked the mods to close it. It was a spamfest.

Kyronea (who's just a nice little follower, true, and who always finds the opportunity to remark on his dislike of me [[mutual if I may add]])

Oh come on. I don't hate you or dislike you, Nanatsu. I dislike some of your actions. Big difference.

And Neo was right in his assessment. He was far more acerbic about it than I would have been, but he was still right. He started off discussing the subject at hand, and you were the one who kept picking at him instead of continuing the subject.

I think that since a moderator ruling's been made, this thread is no longer necessary.

Go play nicely, everyone.
