Because apparently, we're meant to be mindreaders, and know every thread of every subforum.

I thought mods were all knowing.

Erm, I had an idea a while back but never mentioned it....

What if users had a "What action do you think the mods will do?" survey for each new thread here, in the moderation forum? Their submissions will, of course, be kept private, but mods can use them to (1) see how much posters agree with each decision and (2) see which posters often have the same stance as the mods (which means they may be good mod material, at least judgmentwise!)

Keep in mind that I'm not a programmer/scripter/etc, so I have no idea if it's too much work (and if it is, I apologize).

... and posters could use them to try and stack the deck for their friends; 15 "oh, it's just a joke" votes against the original "he's flaming me"?

Besides, always agreeing with the (current) mods wouldn't mark anyone out for modliness. Groupthink is not a good thing.

I think the way the forum is, you can already post your opinions on a complaint. Most people don't say "jolly good show, mods!" after a ruling -- thank heavens -- but they sure let us know if they think we've goofed. And people regularly put their opinions in before a ruling, EVEN WHEN IT'S CLEARLY MARKED "MODS ONLY"! ... (oh, dear, now look what you've done ... you've woken up Artichokeville) ...

As if we'd pay any attention to what YOU lot think, anyway!

Remove the sidebar!!! It's ugly, and frames/big sidebars are really dated and it's about time that NSG uses a new system, I don't believe it's too difficult to replace. Add a quick reply feature. That's about all I can think of for now.

You can already get rid of it, I'm told, by going to Nationstates> Forums> User Control Panel> Board Preferences> Edit Display Options

I just dislike the whole layout. In essence, I want everything to be the same as the Jolt forums :tongue:

These are what I grew up on, these were the first forums I ever used, and I love the greyscale and everything else about them. So, yeah, my suggestion for the new forums is to make them exactly like these forums. Then I'll switch over.

It would help if when you start a new topic halfway through typing in a thread title the cursor wasn't moved to the main text of the message field.

Is there a way to get the quote trees to reset themselves? It's annoying to see the "You're only allowed to embed three quotes" message AFTER you've typed up stuff.

Also, could we get our locations back?

Either a;get rid of quote pyramids totally, b;remove the limits of three nested quotes, or c; have the forum automatically drop the earliest quotes in a pyramid. It is annoying to hunt through a pyramid and delete the first quote.

Oh, and add a multi-quote feature if possible.

Um... that thing. Like, you can post without opening a link?

I noticed something while posting there under my other nation. If you put the font size up on the bar at the top, whenever you load a page it often loads it in normal size for a couple of seconds before the font size gets bigger. It shifts everything suddenly downards in a jerky way that gives me a bit of a headache. Is there any may to make it load the right size font immediately without doing that weird two-step thing it sometimes does?

Update: now the font size keeps defaulting back to small.

Yesterday was the first time I logged onto the main site in "22 days".

I've been a busy boy in the last few weeks, though everything is finally starting to slow down.

And, no, I didn't get a message from NS. Or it might have got swept into the junk folder because I have it set to 'high' filter. Eh, I'll check.

Could you transfer post counts to the new forum? I think it'd be a nice gesture to all the members who posted here over the months/years.

Also: What's up with the changing-rank thing below our names? Or is that also explained in some glaringly obvious faq that's sitting right in front of my face?

It's exactly the same, just a different set of limits on it, and different titles.

Here's a suggestion: Don't force us to use our nation's flags there, as I guarantee that I'll be changing my flag to my current avatar if they have to be identical (and that I won't be the only one!)

So why not? It's what several NSGers have already done.
