Flaming?

Apparently, defending an organization The Black Forrest doesn't like warrants personal attacks:

Dunno, not a mod, but it seems more 'asking for the evidence in a slightly sarcastic manner' than a flame.

*psst. I'm not a mod. ;)*

EDIT: This is why I'm not a mod! Sorry, I didn't read the post fully, this certainly seems like a flame. My apologies.

I originally read as if he misread your question. Later he said the same. It seems like he was trying to figure out what you meant.

Seems like it was a misinterpretation of what was said rather than a malicious remark.

Then I guess I'd better hand in my hat, because I read it -- and still am reading it -- the way you first did, too.

I had to work on it to get the interpretation that could be flamey, ie, that TBH is implying that Poliwannacraca-the-person is evidence that Mensa members think they are a higher life form and do not do things for people.

The muddle seems to happen with this line from Poli:
Evidence that MENSA members "tend to think they are a higher life form" and do not "do things for people"?

This could be read two ways:

1. [What is your] evidence that Mensa members ....? OR

2. your evidence that Mensa members ...?

To which BF then replies, "You're the evidence?", which could also be read two ways:

1. As a statement: "YOU are the evidence that Mensa members (don't do good things) ..." OR

2. As a query: "Uh ... is what the evidence? Are you saying that you are the evidence? I don't get it."

In subsequent posts, Poli takes it as an insult, BF wonders why, then says (italics are my extrapolations),

Ah! Re-read.

For some reason your post registered as you were implying ([I]that you were the evidence) rather then asking (what is the evidence).. <snip>

He then gives his opinion of Mensa members he has met, Jocabia takes him up on his logical flaw ("I have never met a Mensa member who ..." does not mean "All Mensa members are the same as the people I have met"), and the discussion goes its merry way.

So: I don't see The Black Forrest's remark as a personal attack, but if he wants to come and confess that all along he did mean that Poli tends to think of herself as a higher life form, etc, I'll re-deal the cards.

EDIT: Hiya, Kryo! *mutters* more like ol' speedster Fris every day :D

I was not trying to attack Poli. I try to avoid "You poopoo head" type of arguments.

Ok Logic flaw. Now I understand what is presented. Sorry I can hyper-focus and miss the obvious.
