Maximum post length?

There's a WA proposal in queue to be voted on and, well, my post on it is going to be rather... long.

I'm wondering if there's a coded maximum post length or, failing that, an actual policy on maximum post length. And I apologize for asking what's probably in one of the FAQs, but it's 3 AM and I'm boggling at the length of the post's outline.

IIRC there is a limit, but it's huge.

I'm not known for my brevity, and I've never run into a word limit. I've also seen RP posts that occupied two-thirds of a forum-default 15-post page.

But just because you can doesn't mean that you should.

It's not polite to hog the floor, which is what it looks like when you have very long posts, or posts one after another with no-one else in between.

A suggestion: outline, say, five main points in one post, then use subsequent individual posts to deal with one of the points in detail (and give other posters a go betwen your posts).

You may find your points will change as the debate veers one way or another, and flexibility will be an asset.

It's your choice, of course, but it's rather depressing to have put ages into thinking out and typing your (obviously) brilliant, witty and insightful comment, only to have it dismissed by some (obviously) iggerant yob with "TL/DR."

PS: This post is too long.:D

PPS: Copy and paste elsewhere before you hit send. Long posts are notorious for getting lost.

I believe it's either 50k or 75k characters. I have actually run into it when posting the player's profiles. Can't remember atm which one of the two it is though. And Jolt may have changed it since I last encountered it.

Take it from someone who's had long RP posts lost in the nether worlds of Jolt: She's right.

I'd recommend creating the post in MS Word, then copying and pasting into a Jolt post.
