Thread closures

Now this is a question I have been meaning to ask for awhile now.
When Mods lock threads they very rarely give a reason for it and simply just lock it.
Now I know some threads it is very easy to see why it has been locked but others usually have me scratching my head for a reason.
I was just wondering if we could get Mods to give a short reason in a thread before they lock it?
*Awaits short answer of "No", without any reason as thy why.* :p

I dunno about the others, but for me the reason's usually so glaringly obvious Blind Freddy could see it, so I don't bother.
It's usually spam/dousing flames, with a sub-category called This Will Come To No Good End. You can always chuck a "Whydja do thaaaat?" in here if you're curious.
We might condescend to share our lordly thoughts with you.

Aside from that, it's usually been requested in Moderation for one reason or another. That was always my first place to go look around and see what happened.

Haha well true, and Ard I know you usually do place a post in explaining your reason if it isn't so obvious. That could be of course simply because you did place in a post that I know you locked it rather than me knowing that these are the only threads you lock.
But as I say there have been times when a thread has been closed and I have wondered why. But yes fair enough I will ask "why?" if I can't see it from now on.

Another Australian idiom?
Indeed it is.
Erastide: True but I am talking about those threads which doesn't have a request nor has it dlved into spam/gone widly off topic/other obvious reason.
Actually another question for Mods, my last theard was locked and I was wondering if I can start a new proper one on the subject?

A-ha! And here I was, thnking, "What a nice lad that Blouman Empire is! He knows the mods love hypotheticals, and he's brought us one to play with. It must be sheer good-fellowship, he doesn't even know I have a cute daughter."
And now this shattering disillusion. Well, give us a link then, why doncher, so we can see what happened to the last one.

lol, actually Ard, actually there was a couple of other threads that were locked before this one and I did think about asking then. My thread was then locked and I thought well I might as well ask now.
But here you go.

Doesn't "posting drunk" fall under the aegis of "Glaringly Obvious?"

O. mi. gawd.
BE, what makes you think that a topic that died under the weight of its own spammage on Thursday is somehow going to be magically spam-safe and mod-safe if resurrected today?
"Who here posts drunbk?" is to NSG as is nectar to a bee, carrion to a fly, bad mortgages to Fannie Mae. If there were an offence called "spam-bait", that topic was it.
NO. Bad.
EDIT: The above summarises as "I agree with Kat". :D

"Who here posts drunbk?" is to NSG as is nectar to a bee ("OK, we get it")
carrion to a fly ("Huh?")
bad mortgages to Fannie Mae ("Soooooo solid!"). If there were an offence called "spam-bait", that topic was it.
If there were a killer way to make a point, the bolded phrase was most certainly it. :D

Yes but that is why I asked if I could do a sober one.
But then as you and Ard say "no".

Ah.
As for myself, I don't mind if you ask the same question while not drunk... however it might be a bit repetitive... (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=591239)

Why not give it a rest until the memory of the hangovers starts to fade? It's not like it's one of those topics that'll drop out of circulation if you don't do it now.

True that, I might just wait till next time I have a drinking session and everybody has either gone to bed and home and I am still wide awake. :p

As this is a thread about reasons for closing threads: thread closed because it's been enough to drive us all to get drunbk.
