There's no point in even keeping it open anymore.

Seems reasonable to keep it open to me - you just argued a pretty good point that hasn't been replied to yet, but you're the OP.

The moment I felt the need to argue with a mod over their ruling was the moment I knew the thread went beyond the point of being possibly salvaged. Best to let the mod reply and it be closed than continue a path which, logically, can only end in trouble.

Nah. Cause trouble, you only get to be a newb once!
(That was a joke - can't stress this enough, I was not condoning breaking the rules. Okay? Ha.)

Or at least that's what I did, in my quest for enlightenment
Because there are somethings you can't learn from reading in a FAQ.
(though I should probably reread that FAQ again anyway. :) )

Arguing with mods over behaviour rulings in the Moderation forum can end in trouble, though a reasonable request for clarification isn't a problem.

But arguing with mods over their proposal rulings in the WA forum is encouraged, good, virtuous, expected; and shouldn't end in trouble unless something that would be trouble on any forum, such as flaming or flamebait, crops up.

All the mods who deal with the WA know that its proposal rules are complex and can be intimidating. The threat of having your nation kicked out of the august body makes it worse. We're all ready to explain to the best of our ability. Other players are also ready to weigh in with explanations and suppositions. It's chaotic at times, but it's worked so far. When it gets too repetitive, we can always close the thread.

Which I'll do in your case now*, to keep it from going off-topic. I'll post my detailed reply on the technical stuff later.

*@Unibot: not because of the OP rule, though. That applies to RPs. In OOC threads and General threads, the OP doesn't have an automatic right to have it closed.

Unibot, I have no authority to demand this, but can I suggest you maybe find another thread to post in for the moment, as I can't see what you're contributing here. You are, of course, as free to disregard this as you are to post what I'm sure will be an icily witty response to this request.

Eluneyasa and Ardchoille, with respect to both of you I would like an opportunity to reply. My proposal has been called a 'joke' and 'garbage', and given I believe it to be neither I'd like to defend it. I realize thread ownership applies in the WA forum, but under ordinary circumstances the proposal author would be the thread starter. I feel no will towards Eluneyasa for questioning my proposal, I have not requested special treatment just because I have been in the WA for longer than them - but I dislike the assumption that what I'm doing is a joke (for one, I think there's a serious point to it; for two, it would be an unbelievably asinine joke).

Sorry about the delay; RL intervened. The thread is open again. I closed it to avoid it veering off topic -- I felt I'd already created enough confusion. Go for it.

Ah. Didn't know that.
Thanks.

I've got nothing - really. :)
