I have a question, given that Jocabia's sig is from a thread that was closed by a Mod so I cannot go back and debate the point (Which I feel is a misrepresentation) that he is selectively quoting, is this ok?

I know for NM's sig the Mods stated that it was fine because a thread could be created to debate it, but in this case Ard closed the thread and probably wouldn't reopen it just so the two of us can continue our argument.

Sig in question:
FS: still a word. its a word even if only me and one other person use it. hell, it's at least plausible that it counts even if i only use it to communicate with myself.
NERVUN: No, then it is a meme or perhaps jargon.

If that quote is from that misbegotten "USians" thread, NOOOO WAAAAAY would I reopen it.

The quote's not directly breaking a rule, it's not a flame, and I don't see it as flamebait. I understand your argument that you feel it's misrepresenting your position, but I think the situation is one that the two of you should be able to resolve without mod intervention.

Suggestions:



Ask him politely to remove it. Many Generalites are really very reasonable people .... <_< ... >_> ...

See if there's anywhere you can talk about that particular quote -- offsites, IRC, similar

Trust that Jocabia will read this thread, see that his sig bothers you and, being a reasonable person (see above) remove the quote (you could send him the link to this to make sure he sees it).

Understood. Then let me formally state for the record that I do think that it misrepresents my argument and it does bother me, so, Jocabia, since I know you will read this, please do change it.
