And generally being NSG's very own candiru.

The constant "Leeroy" blasts are trite, uncreative and childish flamebaiting, typical of H2. Discussions involving me and the assassination of the President of the United States, however, are way beyond offensive.

1- Only now you have shown any annoyance about being called Leeroy. But okay, I stop.

2- You went all "Fort Sumter" when Obama got elected, remember? And TRR brought up "pick up guns". Given that, given your calls for a secession war, and given that I was raising a hypothesis (and one that works very well with your history), no, it's really not flamebaiting or flaming. It's PATTERN RECOGNITION. After a post by someone ELSE that brought up right-wingers picking up arms. You called for a secession war. Why should I assume you are incapable of considering assassination to the point that I'd not even think that you might be willing to try it, in a post in which I myself pointed out that you'd be unlikely to?

3- That would take a bit to explain, but, for the shorter version, here it is: Candiru (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candiru). A parasitic fish from the jungles of Brazil (miles away from where I live, but it seems the resident neocons are intent on making believe I live in Amazonas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazonas_(Brazilian_state)), as opposed to Minas Gerais (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minas_Gerais), and on misguidedly trying to offend me with that notion) that is attracted by the smell of urine and may enter someone's bladder through their urethra, but usually feeds on fish scales, carrion, blood, or mucus. That's what NM called me in the bolded part. Next time you want to report me, NM, you might not want to start it off by flaming me in moderation. Since you were kind enough to open this thread, I figure I might report it right here, but I'm sure the mods will promptly see it for what it is.

Sorry for violating the mods only, but I wanted to add a link to the post that actually brought up NM picking up arms. It wasn't Hei. He only replied to it (while taunting with "Leeroy").

Yellow card for New Mitanni for flaming in Moderation. Red card for Heikoku for flaming/flamebait throughout the thread, including the "Leeroy" taunts, as he failed to take a hint when I noted its undesirability last week in another thread.

NOTE that this does not constitute a ruling against the practice of extrapolating an idea to ever-nuttier extremes. That's usually an acceptable form of argument/light relief. Its impact is in the incongruity of the image. I'm not going to nobble half of General because one poster misunderstood one application of it.

"Extrapolation" to assassinating the President of the United States is far beyond "nutty." A lot of people take such things seriously. Like, say, the FBI.

That's usually an acceptable form of argument/light relief.

There is nothing "light" about this. See above. Nor is there any indication that it was intended to be "light relief".

'm not going to nobble half of General because one poster misunderstood one application of it.

I don't know which "one poster" you're referring to, but there was no "misunderstanding" on my part, of either the statement or the intent behind it.

In association football, those who dissent against a yellow card tend to meet with a second yellow (ie red.)

May I politely suggest leaving Ard's comments alone; the ruling has been made, fairly and even-handedly, and you're only going to make matters word arguing semantics.

Just looking for clarification, not arguing.

Argument/light relief is what I said, NM. Two parts.

An example of extrapolation to ever-nuttier extremes used as light relief would be the way that, thanks to the poster Hammurab and an insignificant line in a news report mentioning a police horse, Kat now has a burgeoning reputation as a take-no-prisoners intelligence operative with a taste for absinthe.

In argument, extrapolation is often seen in "if/then" or "slippery slope" posts: "If (politician X) gets away with this, the next thing you know we'll be (bankrupt, sent to slave labour camps, annihilated)." It may not always stand up to close examination, but it's a useful debating move (similar to your own "Dark Lord" metaphor) to summarise a whole series of attitudes, leading to a dire-warning conclusion that even the arguer usually recognises as exaggerated.

Heikoku started out extrapolating to absurdity. That's an acceptable tactic. He turned it to flaming by mockingly using another poster (you) as an example. He was red-carded for the malice evident in that and other posts, not for the exaggeration, the content of which he himself said was unlikely. My reference to "misunderstanding" was to the apparent fact that you took the exaggeration as seriously as the malice.

Krytenia, I'd agree with you if this was the rules-lawyering over individual words that sometimes occurs, but I took this one as a reasonable query. Reasonable queries on mod rulings are welcome.

BTW, once again, this seems to have slipped off the radar:

Mods only.

That means that only the mods, the OP and the accused, if any, should post.
