Why do people assume inserting curse words into their posts makes their point get across better?

Swearing is not against the rules, you should try reading the stickies sometime. They're a good read.

So, group of trolls shows up with the express intent to derail threads, and I get called on moderation for something that's not even a flame because...?

No but swearing at someone could be taken as trolling/flaming which are against the rules.

In this case H2 told another user to shut the fuck up. flaming/trolling

If h2 made a post with the word "fuck" in it there would be no issue.

It is NOT trolling or flaming. If it swearing happens to be used in that flame then it is a part of it.

I rest my case.

Posting asinine stuff like this ^ is NOT a good idea in moderation. It's pretty much like "see, told you so". You'll only irritate people further.

Suggesting that posters 'shut up' is far from constructive. Though, I don't see why you're complaining. I'm being nice by just giving you a strongly worded reminder about behaviour in order to encourage good behaviour, if you would rather I not be nice then that too can be arranged.

I wasn't saying swearing alone was the issue. telling another user to stfu is, then saying so again here.

I wasn't being asinine, I could have gone a whole lot of ways with a response to that but I didn't I simply said "here another example" and telling me to shut up isn't going to irritate me?

It can still be nonconstructive and juvenile. There is no reason to post "shut up" repeatedly.

Actually, I would have preferred it to be cited as "another example". You're coming to moderation for a judgment call, and it should have been left as an example since you were seeking a judgment.

Okay. Is it actionable?

Multiple instances where it's obvious it's nonconstructive would yield moderation input, which I gave. That was the extent of the action; a suggestion to knock off the behaviour and nothing more.

I find "the fuck" to be an excellent accent for a sentence. Examples include: "What the fuck are you doing?," "Where the fuck did that come from?" "Just who the fuck do you think you are?" Slightly more powerful than an exclamation point (!).

I second this. Swearing can add a certain amount of emphasis on a sentence.

And my "rest my case" statement to me was me saying "another example" but duly noted Kyro

I would like to say that I think Heikoku 2's comments are rude, uncalled for, and the epitome of spam. I mean honestly, he's said it nearly a dozen times for no reason. I don't see any rule anywhere that says that we can't post, but he keeps telling us to shut up. It's just plain rude and it's just plain spam.

I think telling some one to shut up, or even to shut the fuck up, would not constitute flaming. However, considering the repetitive context, maybe it fit's the definition of flame baiting or spam? Weather this behavior is actionable or not it's certainly not commendable, especially considering that H2 seems to be aware of this and is purposefully walking a fine line.

Okay. Is it actionable?

Unless of course that was legitimate curiosity, but I doubt it.

/not a mod

Well i guess some of you find middle school children dialect to be acceptable. Emphasis on the children part.

That's...really quite unwise. Calling someone a child/childish could constitute flaming. Furthermore, it has been said before that cursing is not against the rules, so yes, it has been deemed acceptable here. If you just can't stand to read it then I suggest you migrate to somewhere that does not allow that kind of language instead of hanging out here.

I don't know very many adults who frequently swear, especially not when they are trying to have a civil debate/discussion with others or in their place of work. Apart from drunks etc whom act like juveniles anyway.

Not really, you got told by the mods not to act juvenile, i got told not to make asinine comments. Further I never flamed you, I said swearing is something children do more frequently than respectable adults do, and that some users here are apparently okay with acting childish....a mod has already already said swearing is juvenile.

Juvenile and childish are the same thing.

You obviously have not been near a family with a long history of service in the Marines and Army.

I'm in the army right now. Yes we swear etc frequently, this does not mean however that while in a debate or discussion with someone I am going to start throwing out curse words to emphasis a point.

Further if I was to do so in certain situations I would be belittled and insulted.

IE if I was to be running for a local office and started using swear words in the midst of a debate with the opposition, I would most likely loose my bid for whatever position I was running for as people in general would view me as being a foul mouthed immature person.

That's just it I didn't flame you, nor did i "use mods as a weapon". You seem to be more interested in trying to get me in trouble and use mods against me than my legitimate complaint over your response to another user which has already been addressed and dealt with. Regardless I will no longer be responding to you, as you simply aren't worth my time.
