Multiple nations question

Are these really allowed??
I read through the rules, and was shocked to find they were!

I know you can't have multiple nations in the World Assembly (WA) but I assume there's nothing wrong with one nation speaking up for the rest of them, like mine would?

All help appreciated, thanks.

Your understanding is correct.

Only one nation per player may be in the WA, or per IP as the case may be. One player, one vote. However, there is no limit on the total number you can have. Several of us mods have multiple nations. But each of us only one nation in the WA, if we have chosen to do so.

Just want to keep things on the right side :D

So basically, there's nothing wrong with having multiple nations, and one player speaking on behalf of all of them in the World Assembly (WA) is acceptable - in my case I treat my nation as a continent.

I have no intention of, and don't want to upset any moderators, or players here.

Thanks.

I'm not a mod by the way but...

I play a nation called Urgench which is a massive Eurasian empire which includes dozens of vassal states. Urgench is the only one which is a W.A. member and it speaks for all the vassal states it rules, some of these I also play though of course, as per the rules, only Urgench has w.a. membership.

You're describing a roleplay event here, not a gameplay event. Roleplay is fine.

My WA Ambassador is retired, but he still speaks in the WA on behalf of Frisbeeteria and several puppet states on occasion.

Several of my puppets are completely independent of and unrelated to the nation Ardchoille, and have spoken on their own behalf in the world body when matters directly concerning them have come up, or when I want to RP a position that would be inconsistent with Ardchoille's. Though they can't be WA voting members, I roleplay that their governments maintain permanent observer delegations at the WA.

What you must not do is commit the RP sin of having two or more of your nations post in the one thread.

In the WA, this could be misused to create the impression that a proposal has more support/opposition than it actually has.

Question, does a school IP register differently or does everything appear to be one IP when the computers are on a link together. I know a lot of players in my school. That could potentially mean they're at risk for violation, without knowing it.

They would be best off not using shared computers.

As Kat says maybe best off using your own computer, but I remember back when I was in Highschool we had a few people playing this game and different nations in the WA and we were never found out. Not that we were doing it on purpose mind we were playing against each other.

I'd respectfully disagree only to the extent to clarify that it can be acceptable RP etiquette for main nations and puppets to both post in certain non WA-related RP threads.

In sporting or cultural RPs, for example, it can be perfectly acceptable for a main nation and puppets to both post, regardless of whether there's an IC connection between those nations or not. However, there are sometimes rules specific to that RP event on the number of puppets that can participate.

If in doubt, ask the thread's OP or in the relevant OOC discussion thread (if there is one).

Further clarification!

For the love of god don't even try doing so in any sort of war RP or the like. If you do, we'll chase you down the street with wifflebats.

Sockpuppetry, basically?
Just trying to understand everything here!

I didn't want to confuse the WA issue by dealing with other forums' conventions. There are times when it's legit and (more) times when it's not.

As a general rule, hiding your puppets to deceive other players for your own benefit is what will cause trouble. 'Nuff said.
