Would you say this was flame or trollbaiting?

Another constructive and positive commentary from our dear Kimchi.

Don't worry. I killed enough Muslims since 1991 to make up for you not doing any.

The reporting of Hotwife's antics (a.k.a. Kimchi) has become... so... blah. Just don't pay attention to him. That's my take, but I am not a mod.

yeah, I agree with Nanatsu. I'm not a mod, but I think there is something called the ignore button... it may be appropriate for Hotwife. If enough people do it he/she would (hopefully) take it as a hint. Again I am not a mod, so it is up to them whether or not to take punitive action against him/her.

Not a Mod.

by ignoring Hotwife, DK, et al. it encourages others that rule breaking will be allowed if you are persistant enough.

I would rather, if Hotwife, DK or whomever keeps it up, then HotWife, DK, etc... will join the short list of those DOS on this site.

I don't think complacency is a good thing. but if the Mods get 'tired' of all the reporting, they can take steps to remove the irratant.

Its part of an escalating pattern. Considering about the only response to some of whats been posted by him lately is "fuck off" it strikes me as being well thought out flame baiting Below are some samples for context.....

That entire thread degenerated into bickering within four pages. It's really frustrating to see threads almost immediately derailed by flaming from both sides of the line. We all lose our cool from time to time, but there are clearly a handful of offenders who just want to derail discussions and be snarky. Maybe the whole community needs a modly talking-to.

If the guy said "I killed enough Jews since 1991 to make up for you not doing any" would it be more, or less, acceptable?

His leash is now a noose. His time is up. Implementing a perma-ban.

He was given plenty of chances to reform his ways, but it seems time is not a good teacher, nor are repeated short-term bans.

Is he blocked from ever making another account, or did he just get perma-banned like I was?

I would like to know as well as to whether this is just a perma ban on that particular account or an IP ban/DOS.

Seeing as how I'm a virgin with totally banning people... I'm not sure how it would work. Uh... *goes and looks for her Mod Manual that got misplaced*...

It's a ban on that particular account. For DOSs we have to summon* the Elder Gods. :hail:

EDIT: * by "summon" I obviously meant "respectfully entreat the attention of".

Are said elder gods ok with you referring to them as elderly though?

Then summon them already. You can't possibly believe he's somehow going to change his behavior.

Oh, maybe he'll act good for a couple of weeks or so, but then he'll be back to the same old, same old.

Really, we'd be better off without him.

It won't even be a couple of weeks before his new account throws in Ebil Mozlem threads, Ebil Mozlem Demotivation Posters, and maybe an Ebil Obama thread or two.

A DoS decision isn't made lightly. Except in extreme cases of scumminess, we are as cautious as you'd want us to be if you were the poster under discussion.

Ryadn's right: NSG has been over-full of snark lately, from both sides.

Kryo's ruling gives the regulars a cooling-off period in which they can give their own behaviour a much-needed check. It should also serve as a warning to other repeat offenders.

As eye-rollingly annoying as Hotwife/DK can be, unless he's making no contribution to any debates whatsoever, I see no need to bring out the DoS hammer.

And that is my unmodly opinion.

Okay. Then I'll put in my actual two cents.

Prediction: Hotwife comes on in as (yet) another nickname, it takes us about three to six minutes to figure out who he is, it takes him about three to six months to admit who he is, in the meantime, and afterwards, he keeps on flaming and flamebaiting anyone who doesn't think the Endlösung should be applied to whatever group du jour he currently dislikes. Until someone finally has it with him again, and... deletes his nation. Wash, rinse, repeat. This has gone on for a few years here, really, and I really don't think Hotwife ever made an improvement. Indeed, since Obama got elected, he's been getting progressively worse. Then, after a year or so of this, say, March 2010, with many people getting annoyed and many mods being forced to work overtime, someone finally gets fed up and DOSes him, with just about everyone wondering why didn't he get booted a year or two ago.

I'm willing to bet R$ 50,00 on this. (US$ 20,00)

I think what Heikoku 2 said is the likely outcome of this.

In general, I agree that moderators should be very careful about using the DOS, but DK/Hotwife has demonstrated this pattern of behaviour for a while now.

Deleting a nation seems like a lighter sanction than a 1/2/7 day ban. Is there anything to stop a poster from instantly creating a new nation and posting on the forums straight away?
Katganistan
01-03-2009, 21:14
Yes.
The fact that multiple deletions = DOS and they'll be deleted immediately on discovery, lessening the time that they are able to be in the spotlight.

Seriously, yes, we get it. There are some pretty decent citizens on these forums that needed a couple deletions to become civil enough to stay and contribute. If we DEATed everyone anyone thought was annoying, we'd be left with Max, [violet], and some random nations here and there and the rest of us would be off looking for a new place to terrori-- er, call home.

So let's not be too quick to call for the public stonings, 'kay?

Though I am not a Mod, I would echo Kat's call for reasonableness.

Although nations are to blame for their own misconduct, let us be honest and admit that controversial viewpoints often tend to bring out the claws. Over time someone who is ideologically marginalized on NSG no doubt gets increasingly frustrated and alienated and acts out. Combine that with the tendency that we all have to report alleged violations by our ideological opponents, human frailty, and the emotional nature of some subjects.

More to the point, personally I think Hotwife has been duly punished for his trangressions but he does bring a perspective to the table that keeps debate flowing. I value his contributions.

I would also add that those of us living in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones.

I have no qualms with posters expressing opposing views. My tolerance wears thin when people express those views in a manner that is destructive.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that the "Yes" in this post my have been an answer to my question and I'd like to clarify my position on this.

I don't want to see DK DOSed, I don't even want to see his current nation deleted. I'm of the opinion that he's a valuable if occasionaly annoying member of the the board, there aren't enough right wingers around and I'd hate to see this board become a socialist paradise.

My question was curiosity, nothing more.

While Id actually like Hotwife to reincarnate himself (because when hes not trolling he can actually address valid points), DK goes looking for the claws. Thats makes him a troll and not an innocent victim of heated debate.
