Its a debating technique used on NSG on a regular basis. Youre using the Mods as a weapon, because you cant actually address the arguement. Its transparent and embarassing.

1) All flaming is malicious, it's in the definition.
2) That's not a flame.

I'm new to this forum, I don't know anyone and as Bill Hicks said: I'm not trying to sound cold or cruel or vicious, but I am so that's how it comes out. Posting another topic because someone flamed you? My tip:

Deal with it.

It's not a flame, but it certainly is lazy debating, and perhaps a distortion of the facts.

It's a standard debating technique -- reductio ad absurdum? -- anyway, it's where you apply your opponent's form of argument to a different situation, reaching a conclusion so absurd as to be laughable.

If Sdaeriji genuinely thought you were a paedophile, or wished to expose you as such to others, the method wouldn't work. The conclusion has to be utterly, obviously, manifestly nuts.

It's a risky technique to use, because it can be so easily misunderstood by newcomers to the forums, who then think it's OK to make outrageous allegations here. I carded another poster for using a similar (less clear) construct a few days ago.

In this one, however, Sdaeriji's final sentence makes it clear that she's using a debating trick:

... because then I wouldn't be a lazy and terrible debater.

Whatever faults may be ascribed to Sdaeriji, excessive humility isn't one of them.

You're new to the forum and don't know the rules.

My tip: learn them. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416023)

In this one, however, Sdaeriji's final sentence makes it clear that she's using a debating trick:

Unless a lot's changed since I was last on here, or unless the player behind Sdaeriji gave that nation to someone else, I think Sdaeriji is a man.

Then again, a lot could have changed.

Damn, sorry, I was thinking of Sinuhue.

In explanation of my senior moment, I would point out that "Ardchoille's mental list of Generalites who do not suffer from excess humility" is ... quite long.

Well, apparently you are blithely unaware that flaming is against the rules, that the moderation forum is precisely the place to report it if one feels they have been flamed, and that the moderation forum is not the place for interjecting unhelpful and unnecessary remarks.
