I'd like to appeal

I'd like to appeal the warning I got from Kat in this thread. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=582014)

I'm not saying that I don't agree with the warning, I did push things, but at the same time, I think I have a legitimate grievance with Neo Art's conduct on NSG. He's basically very arrogant, has a superiority complex and instead of actually engaging in debates, he'll make a comment like the first one he made in the thread above.

I have been brought in line by the Mods two times in the past (this one would make three), but I never see the mods rein in Neo. I personally think the mods do a good job keeping order in NSG, but they do slip up once in awhile.

If I'm going to be reined in for my comments, for my posting actions, then I think Neo Art should be reined in also, it's only fair.

I reviewed the ruling and the thread in question and I back up Kat's ruling. Wilgrove was unnecessarily provocative. Also, there is no reason why Neo Art should be reprimanded just because you were.

He's basically very arrogant,

From my understanding, arrogance is not actionable.

has a superiority complex

From my understanding, a superiority complex is not actionable either

and instead of actually engaging in debates

I'm really not sure what debate you thought you were making there, but the only question that you seemed to ask was "who the Hell smoked for fun?" Which I answered.

more to point, Kat asked me, unofficially, to tone it down, and I did. I'm fairly certain I got the same "chill it out" message you did.

snip

I perused it the thread.

I saw two people being asses to each other. It happens, one big point to remember is that it takes two people to fight. Did you overstep Wilgrove? Sure, did Neo? Of course.

I don't disagree with Kat stepping in, though she should have been more equally forceful instead of letting the greater weight of responsibility fall on you seemingly without cause.

I agree with the OP.

From my understanding

From my understanding your very first post was hostile towards Wilgrove without provocation... which should be, and is actionable.

From my understanding, you're not a moderator. Kat and Kyr are. And they've made their ruling.

It is my understanding that Kat gave both unofficial warnings and fairly instructed both to knock it off. Both got the same warning. One heeded it, one didn't.

Umm... ok, now you get to cite where exactly it is that I claimed to be a mod. I never once claimed to be a mod, but stated my opinion, which I believe I am free to do.

Fair? Did you read Kat's first post? Also, from everything I have seen Neo doesn't seem to have heeded anything.

Yes, I am sure that "Chill" and "Mega-Chill right now" are very unfair. In other words, telling Neo he was stepping out of line, and pointing out that Wil was escalating the matter by dragging in sexual practices of Neo, and disparaging his family.

Whether he feels Neo is arrogant or not (he is), it's not his job to "knock him down a few pegs." If offended, he could certainly have complained. He opted to flame, recognized that he was crossing the line, and when asked to stop, decided to continue.

I have highlighted the pertinent parts of "attacking the poster and not their argument" in red for the armchair quarterbacks.

Never let it be said that Kat does not speak her mind...

Here's what I want to know, with Neo's arrogance, and apparently enjoyment in derailing my threads by trying to set up a threesome (spam) where was the warning? Why does Neo get to run around NSG breaking rules (flame baiting and spam are the most common) while I got the yellow card twice and the red one once?

My main complaint here is not that I got the warning, I'll be the first to admit that the warning I got was fair and just. It's that the handing out of the yellow and red card doesn't seem to be proportional. One poster gets free run of the place, and others get the cards for a slight offense.

If you want me to drag up several of Neo's post demonstrating where his rule breaking didn't get any action, I'd be more than happy to do so.

He got an unofficial warning for making a personal remark.

You got an unofficial warning for making a boatload of more personal remarks. If anything, were he the type, Neo could argue that you got the same warning for more aggressive posting.

You decided to continue.

You got a yellow card.

I am immediately unfair because I dared to give you an infraction for continuing under the guise of, Yes, but it's ok because I think he's an ass.

What's difficult to understand about this sequence of events?
