I would, given that I was just about to report it. He's jumped down my throat in that thread, too, but not nearly as bad as he did you for some reason.

From the context, it seems to me that he's deliberately arguing fallaciously to underline that, in his opinion, you have argued fallaciously. If he thought his statement was actually true, it wouldn't work as a counter to yours.
I'm looking at this post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14460655&postcount=133), this earlier one (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14460520&postcount=106) and a general tenor that he feels intellectually dishonest arguments are being used in that thread.
That said, Free Soviets could have chosen a less personal example. Red card as a reminder.
