I need a mod ruling.
The corruption and travesty of justice... well, would be unbelievable if we were talking about a country with standards, but it is the USA we are talking about. It's not unbelievable at all. It's just right up their alley.

Is that trolling? It really seems to me to be there soley to piss people off, and given certian characters on this forum, he knows it will. I dont see what it adds to the disscussion.
Just removing that little bit would make the thread fine, and Ill delete my reference to it.

Not a mod, but that whole OP is an anti-American trollish rant.

Links provided for convenience anyways.

But this is always how Fass talks about the US, so either he's always trolling, or he genuinely believes what he says and is not deliberately trying to antagonize for no purpose.

Genuinlly believing it doesnt make it any less trolling, according to the rules.

Controversial opinions are not prima facie evidence of trolling. There's a fine line between having utter disdain for something then posting and walking away, and maintaining a discussion to defend that viewpoint.
Fassitude has an extensive history of this sort of posts, and has crossed the line often enough to lose at least a couple of nations over it. I don't think he's done so here.
There's been a lot of action in Moderation lately with the apparent aim of sanitizing discussions here. The rules have never been about keeping things so bland that nobody ever disagrees. I've been on boards like that, and they're dull as dry toast. NSG is a lively interplay of ideas and ideologies, leavened with a minimum of 4chan-style trolling 'for the lulz'. It's the 4chan and /b/ stuff we want to avoid.
Real political differences come with real political arguments. Discuss. Respond. Refute. That is presumably why you're here.

A tirade? Yes it is. Trollish? I'd have to squint hard to see it. I'm letting it run its course.
EDIT - seems Fris got to it first.

I feel compelled to make a couple of comments I should probably keep to myself:
1. It would seem less like Fass was trolling if he hadn't just posted an inflammatory statement and "walk[ed] away." So far, he isn't engaging in any discussion or "defending [of his] viewpoint." I'm not sure this amounts to trolling per se, but it seems to be yellow card territory at least.
2. I completely agree that there appears to be a reason trend of "I don't like Poster X, so punish them" and/or "I don't like Poster X's viewpoint, so punish them." I urge everybody guilty of this (including myself) to cut it out.

For further reference, are we going to have a mod ruling on everything that's potentially inflammatory?

Understood, and in retrospect, agreed, and potentially childish and thin skinned on my part. I honestly didnt want the thread to go, just like I said, potentially the quoted remark.
I was just worried that it would provoke certian members to explode, but ruling accepted. Thank you for your time.
