Well, if our old friend Inklingland isn't doing exactly what got him banned. Calling someone a buzzword spewing drone is past the mark, is it not?

No. It isnt. Anyway, I thought you said you hated NM why are you so upset about his feelings?

Somehow I don't think he likes NM

Not that telling someone to shut up is so terrible, but if he's just off a ban it might warrant keeping an eye on him.

While he may be a bit..strong in his choice of words, he does have a point. This whole thing shows just how little we really know about global climate change, does it not?

Dude, I'm not a mod, but I don't think "I have a personal vendetta against this poster" is going to fly as an excuse for flaming...

Wait, so its OK for NM to post his bile on this forum but if I call him on it or give him what he dishes out I get punished?

I never said that. I said I disagree with half of his politics.

I'm starting to wonder if Inklingland isn't the puppet of someone who's been on a lot longer and thus has more familiarity with my history than some 30-post noob.

I gave an infraction earlier but didn't do a follow up post. Dinner came. Sorry about that.

Additionally, Inklingland, just so we're perfectly clear and nobody gets the fun idea of trying to argue with Kryo about it just 'cause she's the mod squad newbie:
-As of this infraction, you are one offense from having your account deleted. ONE OFFENSE.
-Flaming is flaming. It doesn't matter if it's New Mitanni, Random Nation, [violet], or whatever. If you flame anyone, you get in trouble for it. Your consistent and unrepentant campaign against New Mitanni has landed you in hot water, and your excuses to justify your rulebreaking are at best flimsy, and at worse, total BS.
-If New Mitanni breaks the rules, he will be treated with the same series of warnings and bans as you are. There is no rule against "bile", there is a rule against flaming. What you are doing is flaming, you are not "calling him on it." Attack the argument, not the poster. Learn the difference between "So-and-so is a such-and-such!" (Flaming) and "I disagree with this statement because of such-and-such evidence." (Debate.)
-Spamming the Moderator Tasklist whining to us about being banned is not going to endear you to anyone and is only going to make us less charitable to your case.
-I very, very strongly encourage you to simply leave New Mitanni alone. If you can't remain within this website's conduct rules when debating with him, then don't post in threads he has started or participating in.
Are we clear?

I agree, it's much scarier when it's said by a mod with a sword in their avatar.

I don't get it. I haven't been around long, but in the little time that I HAVE been here, I've seen a lot of biting comments, insults, attacks, etc. Why are people being so overly dramatic right here, and why does he have to worry about being banned simply for stating his opinions, harsh or not? Like I've said, I've read a lot of harsh messages on here so far. There are a lot of subtle insults and a lot of very obvious insults. There are a lot of biting, witty, sharp attacks, etc., and a lot of attacks that really come off weak. There's a lot of debate in a lot of different styles. Why is this particular guy such a big issue, and why are those words of his so problematic? I don't see the big deal; in fact, I think it's worrisome if people have to worry about being banned for saying things like that.

Egal, there's a fine line between witty commentary and outright flaming. I'd be the first to advise anybody to avoid the NS forums if they're offended easily; it's not a place for thin-skinned people.
Inklingland's behavior goes well beyond the pale; it's not just subtle insults, he has shown a systematic and ongoing pattern of behavior specifically targeting another player. That sort of harassment is not something we allow here, and he has been a problem both on the forums as well as on the moderator tasklist. We have given him warnings to cool it; we have given him a weeklong ban (he spent most of it clogging up the moderator tasklist with demands that we unban him, and generally proving he doesn't think he's done anything wrong.) Yet he continues to persist in the same behavior that got him in trouble. If he can't catch a clue, he's out, simple as that.
And mostly it's another case of a noisy problem generating more attention than it's really worth. When you pare it down to the basics, it's the same exact warn, ban, warn, delete sort of way we deal with any chronic flamer. Just in this case, he's been very loud about it.
And LOL at the comments about my SRS BIZ moderator sig :D

If it was an isolated incident, Inklingland might have just been slapped on the wrist for a comment like that, and maybe warned to cool it; but taken in the context of his history and the fact he just got done with a weeklong ban for going after New Mitanni, a comment like that has to be treated more harshly.
Heck, if he'd made a comment like that 6 or so months down the line after his ban, he might have still gotten off with just a warning; but no sooner is his ban up and he's back at it. That really indicates a player with no intention of changing his behavior to stay within the rules.
