Feeder Region Recruitment Message

I am currently in a disagreement with a feeder regions Delegate, the only nation I have had an issue with concerning this. Its in regard to the limit for the ads in their region.

They have a ten line ad limit. Based on the gameplay rules, reasonable ads are allowed in feeder regions. While I understand the need to control ridiculous sized ads that stretch the page out, I also feel a fairly low limit is also not being true the idea of reasonable ad length.

My ad when posted if you include the two space is 14 lines, its 12 written lines, it includes a tight paragraph.

"THE CONSERVATIVE COALITION.

Greetings fellow nations. Tired of the left wing lunatics using the WA to force their opinions and politics on you. I am a member of the Conservative Coalition. We believe that Government should get out of our lives, and out of our wallets. We also believe in Free Markets, Small Federal Government, the protection of unborn life, and a strong foreign policy that isn't afraid to fight. We hold WA Delegate elections every 21 days, and 3 days after every Delegate election, we hold congressional elections. There is always the opportunity to be active in our region, if you have any questions, feel free to ask either me, or our WA Delegate Anti Neo Nazis.

IM
Recruiter"

I don't feel their ad limit is in keeping with reasonable ad length stated in the game play rules, I would not make an issue of this but he is threatening to eject and ban me. I don't believe he should be allowed to do that as a delegate of a feeder region when concerning an issue like this and that the limit should not be set that low.

I know I can just adjust it a few lines to try and fit it within the limit, but I just feel the limit should be looked into, these are feeder regions and I feel that my ad is of reasonable length.

Thank you for your time.

By the rules of Influence, which are all that matter anymore, if the Delegate can eject you, he's allowed to, regardless of whether or not he gives you a reason or an excuse.

Don't like it? Petition for the removal of Influence and see how far you go. ;)

Yes, but this is a feeder region. I think they should be treated a little bit differently then a user created region.

They are. You're allowed to recruit there at all, for one. :P

Then invade said feeder and apply your own rules. :)

Even though it's a feeder region, they do retain some control over what is posted. My guess is that the delegate doesn't want long posts taking up room on the RMB. After all, a lot can be expressed in just a few short lines if one has an excellent grasp of the language.

'Reasonable' is a funny word. What is reasonable to one, may not be reasonable to another. It's my opinion that this person is trying to create a favourable environment for the people who want to live in that region and this is in their eyes a reasonable way of accomplishing that task. It still allows for the recruiter to post.

In an aside, I'd like to add: I remember checking a feeder region and the requirement for that week for a post was for the recruitment ad to be written as a haiku.

The TNP did the haiku contest. The prize was someone from TNP joining the winner's board.

I thank you for your response Kryozerkia. I understand they have some control but as a feeder region that control should be somewhat limited when it comes to game play items like the recruitment messages in the region.

I certainly understand not wanting massive ad messages on the board and they are certainly not reasonable to the majority of users. But this is not a large message.

I am not saying a limit isn't something they should be denied its a question whether they should be allowed to limit it to that extent, ten lines is a bit thin. I don't believe a feeder region delegate's choice should be the deciding factor when it comes to a game play item like this.

Several of the feeders used to operate a 15-line limit: That seemed a more reasonable compromise between 'unlimited length' and 'ridiculously short' than 10 lines does, in my opinion.

(Speaking as a player who's both recruited in feeders [for several different regions], on the one hand, and served in one feeder's Cabinet on the other...)

The delegate is chosen because of the will of the people. The delegate reflects that will. That person likely felt that 10 lines was reasonable, and were tired of those length recruitment messages but were still understanding. It's best not to worry over something so trivial. Perhaps you could ask the delegate directly why they chose that limit and if you're ambitious, to allow spill over.

I wouldn't stress over this, IM. Just post the damn thing. Most times, RMBs move so fast, no one notices particular posts before they're gone anyway. Which leads me to my next suggestion: RMB recruiting isn't likely to get you far under the best of circumstances. Better to TG your recruits directly, and forget about any random line limit on feeder boards.

Just post the damn thing.

I understand why you gave that advice, AlkebuLan, but in this case it's better to trim the message and adhere to the regional ruling. While you're right that it might slide past, some of the feeders have active 'patrols' that look for that sort of rulebreaker and do whatever they can to see them banned.

As for the moderation ruling allowing the feeders to set limits, that compromise was hammered out over several months and will not be changing. As such, any further conversation on this topic should take place on that region's messageboard or offsite forum.
