I tried to post an amusing article and its just been irrevocably hijacked despite a polite request to stop and i got insulted for my trouble. My fault ultimatly but i was just trying to have some fun. Sorry to bother you.

At what point did the thread starter have control over a thread? Since when did the OP own the thread? Is this some new rule I'm not aware of?

Why was the thread closed?

If anybody else was interested in the thread they would have posted more. Frankly, it would probably have dropped off the front page without much response if it wasn't for Yootopia and myself, and even then our conversation had come to an end anyway.

I imagine all mods know me, or know of me purely because I've been posting here for so long; I don't think I've ever been warned for anything, and I don't think I have ever broken the rules in my 12,000 posts and nearly 5 years of posting.

I don't believe for a second there was any reason to close that thread. It went off topic, but that's hardly unusual for an NSG thread; I didn't see many people trying to bring it back on topic.

As long as we're being all self-righteous, at what point did it become permissible to tell the thread originator, when he asked you to stop your hijack, to find a short pier and walk off it?

If you want to chat about school, do so in a thread about school. Don't hijack someone else's thread, insult them, and expect everyone to bow down in worship to your awesomeness.

Yeah, because I definitely wasn't using a jokey statement in a jokey way at all. Definitely not. NSG is far too serious for that. Perhaps we should take the advice of everyone here, because nobody takes a vaguely humorous saying and uses it. Ever. Not at all.

NSG is above that.

And, let's face it., there were so many other people posting in that thread.

NSG used to be good, you know that; and you know me. I've posted here for years and, frankly, it's nowhere the same. It's just far too anal these days, and you've just exemplified that.

Acting like a jerk then saying just kidding didnt fly in third grade either.

I am so ashamed. Scolded by someone who was acting like a bully and didn't particularly like it stopped and their behavior commented on, on the basis of their many many years here, as if that gives them license to flame and hijack. I think I'll go cry.
