So I know I'm a bit earlier than the tradition, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have on here over the next few days.

Thank you to all the mods for your service. We aren't always plesant, we aren't always nice, but you guys do a great job keeping all of us in check. For this, I present you with a small smattering of what my family will be celebrating the season with:
King Crab Legs (http://www.livelob.com/store/images/ALASKAN_KING_CRAB_LEGS_600.jpg)
Sour Dough filled with New England clam chowder (http://www.kitchenproject.com/history/ClamChowder/images/clamChowderCannonball.jpg)
Crab artichoke dip (http://www.elizabethanfare.com/images/horsdoeuvres/hotCrabArtichokeDipWbaguett.jpg)

And to drink, some fresh apple cider (http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/2117412/cider1-500-main_Full.jpg)

once again, thanks to all the mods...we (aside from those calling mod bias) are truly grateful for all your hard work :)

and to all NSers, Generalite and otherwise, happy Thanksgiving, even if it isn't currently being celebrated in your country.

Lot of crabs there Sark. Is it something that is quite abundant in your neck of the woods? Or is it you and your family enjoy eating crabs?

And I wish I hadn't looked at those pics, they look really nice and it has made me even hungrier. *Looks in empty fridge, and feels sad that he will be having Maccas for dinner*

My parents are vegitarian (well, eat seafood...but yeah), and we're from New England...seafood is very common. I'll actually be making the three dishes above, which is the only reason I know that's what we're having...each family member will be making 3 or so dishes. From what I've heard, my sister will be all seafood as well, and mom and dad will handle the basic veggies.

Where most families do turkey, we've only done it recently for my great aunt, and then, none of us really eat it (I have some, but that's about it). Our tradition has always been crab legs or lobster. Strange tradition (though, actually more traditional), but it is one of the reasons I love New England...constant fresh seafood.

*goes back to eating funyuns*

Ah, they understand just fine.

Thanksgiving at the Katganistan household usually includes baked ziti, or linguine with calamari in marinera sauce, as the course before the turkey.

We have the family coming to our house for Thanksgiving. Somehow it has become tradition over the past few years. It's a bit of a surprise, seeing as how our meals are completely vegetarian. For some reason they keep coming back for more.

My mother didn't take the innards out of her first-ever Thanksgiving turkey. That branch of the family ended up having to go out to eat that year.

She's cooked some great turkeys since then, but no one's ever let her forget about it.

But Riesling is the sort of sickeningly sweet wine that goes amazingly well with dessert.

Ugh...you want worse? My grandma used to make tons of food weeks in advance and just leave them in the garage...usually it would stay below 40 out there and be okay, but not always.

She also used to microwave the mashed potatoes, but wouldn't stir them...the inside would be frozen solid, and the outside would be radioactive.

To the topic at hand, Happy Thanksgiving to the mods, and I'm bringing a side dish (my favorite side dish, to be exact) to the thread. Mashed potatoes.

That post just made me realise she's called Ardchoille, not Archdoille. I've been reading it like that since March.

The mighty Arch-Doille! Queen of the lacy french shibboleths! Mistress of frilly tea-cozies! Dread lady of Brussels lace table accents! Bow down before her tastefully accented tea service and scrumptiously dispayed shortbread, for she is Arch-Doille!

Now, if only I could secure an invitation to her high teas to bask in the round lacy glory of the great doilies of yore. Christmas is coming up, and my grandmother did say that Australia was just wonderful when she visited... wink wink, nudge nudge.

Dark secret #1: I can crochet doilies! Or d'oyleys. Also embroider them by hand/knot them/latch-hook them/weave them, but not knit them.

Dark secret #2: I never use 'em. Too old-lady. I am the Antithesis of the Arch-Doille.

Lacy French shibboleths, though ... hmmm ... black, with red ribbons?

(In a final desperate attempt to link this to the topic of Thanksgiving, I can make corn dollies as well.)
