Hai thar. Is it possible to change the type of a WA proposal without rendering the proposal's approvals null and void? I submitted an Advancement of Industry / Labour Deregulation act because I couldn't find the Repeal button, but I think the proposal is more properly a repeal.

I honestly should post this on Forensatha, but I'm waiting on a post on my FT topic.

It probably helps if you provide a copy of the proposal.

Repeal the Living Wage Act
A resolution to develop industry around the world.

Category: Advancement of Industry
Area of Effect: Labor Deregulation
Proposed by: Kostemetsia

Description: The World Assembly,

AGREEING with the admirable spirit of the Living Wage Act,

NOTING, however, several flaws, the following:

(i) In Line 7, mandates that all nations must provide power and water supply, despite the fact that not all WA nations may be able to provide said services;

(ii) In Line 10, mandates that governments must re-evaluate their Poverty Lines every year at the outside, despite the fact that not all governments may be able to do so;

(iii) In Line 12, mandates that all business owners must provide more than Basic Poverty Line pay for their workers, despite the fact that (a) said business owners may be incapable of doing so, and (b) the purpose of business is partially to ensure employees' certainty of continued life -- but it is not at all the purpose of business to pander to those employees' non-essential desires, except in very specific circumstances that would not apply to more than a very small fraction of businesses;

(iv) In Line 13, mandates that all business owners must provide more than Dependent Poverty Line pay for their workers unless right to said pay is explicitly waived by said workers, thus allowing unscrupulous individuals without descendants to claim pay for a family that includes descendants, thus disadvantaging business owners unnecessarily;

(v) In Line 19, mandates that all contracts not conforming to this act are void, thus violating multitudes of national laws against retroactive decrees and interfering with WA members' sovereignty and rights;

HEREBY REPEALS the resolution 'Living Wage Act'.

Approvals: 3 (Vousielle, Lord Tothe, Earth Worshippers)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 87 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Thu Oct 16 2008

Oh, and (i) is wrong in this one. The resolution in question doesn't mandate that. It uses those as part of the definition, but a nation doesn't actually have to provide those.

Not speaking as a mod, but no: proposals can't be edited after submission, whether to amend the content, change the title, switch category, insert generic lolcat spam, or in any other way.

It doesn't matter, though: your proposal won't reach quorum (and if it did, it would be deleted, as repeals should be submitted as such). When you resubmit it, use this link (http://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_repeal/repealid=20).

It's also worth posting a draft in the drafting forum (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1225) before submitting it.

Correct and correct. It's been removed. (You had a whopping three approvals anyway.)

Thankju. Went on a telespam campaign for the proposal, so now I feel like an idiot anyway.
