I'd like a ruling on this...

Watch out everyone. H2 who is not even American (he is from Brazil) says the most trollishly anti-american things and then when you say he is being anti-american he reports you to the mods. Do not fall for his cunning little trap. If I was the tattle tale sort that he is I would report this post to the mods. I am not going to stoop to his level but I wanted to warn you all about it.

Bold 1: I'd like a rule on whether this is flaming.

Bold 2: I'd like a rule on whether this is trolling.

Bold 3: I'd like a rule on whether this is trolling/flaming.

For the record, the op in that thread was actually responded to by a mod (Kat), so I'm pretty sure it's kosher, if GF wants to make something off it.

And no, given that there are three insults in the same post, I hardly think this is mods-as-weapons.

H2 tries to use mods to get at those who argue against him. I was warning others about this. H2 has two threads on Moderation right now alone. He is a tattle tale. There is nothing dishonest about this. Later on in the same thread I explain things a bit further and I am sure he will report that too because he is H2. He even seems proud of his tattling he refers to it as "life in NSG". He bullies people with his tattling.

Sure. Because three insults in one post, several more along the thread, insinuating I favor Saddam and calling me anti-American in the very thread in which I pointed out how it infuriates me isn't flaming or offensive at all. But go ahead and make that case, that I'm a tattle-tale and a bully, too. You were not "arguing" against me. You were flaming and flamebaiting me. You will now await the rulings and not address me further.

Edit: And outright called me a bully:

This war against Saddam was a very American thing to do because we took on a bully (kind of like I am doing to you by sticking up for myself against your tattle tale efforts with the mods).

I was not addressing you. I was addressing the mods.

I meant in the threads. My OTHER points remain.

Such as the human right not to have your country invaded on trumped-up charges? That was not military support, that was slaughter.

GF said someone should report me for trolling and flamebait, so, well, I await your ruling in this as well. That's right, mods, I'm reporting myself. Is it trolling, flamebait, flaming or otherwise against the rules?

Just hold your horses, the two of you, until one of us has time to look at this spat in detail. Locking thread temporarily to limit nonsense.

I'd like to think that, given the amount of time that has elapsed since this was raised, you had both cooled down by now and realised how silly it all was.

But then, of course, I'd like to think that I was a squillionaire teenage beauty queen with the intelligence of Stephen Hawking, the endurance of Aung San Su Chi, the moral clout of the Dalai Lama and the political nous of Aneurin Bevan.

So, given that we're dealing with the real world ...

Glorious Freedonia, it is not automatically trolling to express anti-American views, though it can be. It is not bullying to express disagreement with you, though it can be. It depends on the circumstances, and the current circumstances do not warrant the term.

Most of all, it is not "being a tattle-tale" (ah, how that takes me back to first grade) to post in the Moderation forum. It is much better to post here and ask for help than to flame the person annoying you and cop a ban, or worse.

So argue the post, not the poster, and settle down a bit.

Heikoku, Euroslavia has told you before and I am telling you again: grow some skin about this "anti-American" term. As you've said you object to it, no doubt polite posters who prefer debate to shouting will refrain from using it to you, but it's not automatically a flame.

By the way, a construction you frequently use -- "You will not approach me ... you will not address me ..." -- may cause hostile reactions. It's the arrogant tone a master would use to a servant who had no choice but obedience. It's not appropriate towards fellow posters whom you have no power to compel.

Snip.

Ard: Who is Aung San Su Chi?

And as for the construction, yes, okay. Will stop, mainly because I didn't think it was against the rules but now I know better...

Also, you could check a ruling by Frisbeteeria on this issue - and a ruling that was yours as well, IIRC. I wanted to know the difference between then and now.

Ard: Who is Aung San Su Chi?

Aung San Su Chi (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/1950505.stm) (also transliterated as Aung San Suu Kyi).

And as for the construction, yes, I know my Linguistics. Will stop, mainly because I didn't think it was against the rules but now I know better...The construction is not against the rules. Flamebaiting is.

No, I can't, I'm going to bed. Link to them and I may reply in the morning. But if the answer is self-evident, I won't.

Never mind. Checked them and saw it wasn't different in principle, but in intensity. Sleep well, forgot about the time difference between Brazil and Australia.

After reading H2's new thread "On (actual) arguing," all I can say is "Wow!". H2 started a whole thread pretty much as an "F you" directed in a thinly veiled way against me. It was also an insult to you after this ruling that you gave us. I apologize for any trouble that I may have caused but this is at least the third time he has pulled this sort of antics involving me. I do not like complaining about others to mods but this guy is just relentless.

I noticed on that thread a lot of people talking to Fassitude in the past tense. Has he banned or something, or has he just not come around for a while?
