In the Soldiers in Iraq Thread.

Can it be considered flaming if it's incomprehensible?

i'd like to know how its a personal attack when i'm defending myself and other troops who want to the job they where trained to do.

i dont understand they can bash me for being soldier but i cant defend myself and fellow soldiers.

i've lost great friends in both 9/11 on FDNY and in the war on terror i would like to think that they didnt die in vain.

i was just using my 1st amendment right of free speech, i know i used language not becoming of myself or the arms services but it was 9/11 and i was having a bad day.

i am sorry for over reacting.

Well, I'm not a mod, but is it possible that it might have become one when you called me a "fucknut"?

I posted here Because a mod told me to post in the mod section, no other reason.

i was just using my 1st amendment right of free speech

I'm not quite sure how many times this has to be repeated to people, but...

1) This (OMAC, Jolt, whatever) is a private company - your "right" to "free speech" is whatever they say it is, whilst you're using their facilities.

2) The 1st Amendment doesn't apply in the UK - which, conveniently, is where the Jolt servers are based.

You're allowed to attack the arguments of other posters. You're not allowed to attack the person behind the arguments. You attack arguments by pointing out their flaws.

Defending an argument by personal abuse won't convince anyone of the truth of the argument.

This applies also to your opponents. If you perceive flaws in their arguments, you're welcome to go for the argument's jugular.

i've lost great friends in both 9/11 on FDNY and in the war on terror i would like to think that they didnt die in vain.

Internet argument =/= people died in vain. Rhetoric is a fine debating tool, but expect others to call you on it.

Welcome to cyberspace. The US Constitution's writ runs in the USA. Here, Max Barry's runs.
It's free speech, so I can post whatever I like here, right?
Ahahahaha! Hahaha! Free speech! No, it's not. I run this web site, see, so you have to play by my rules. It's like my own Father Knows Best state.

What can I post?
You can discuss and argue about almost anything, so long as it's vaguely relevant to politics or NationStates and doesn't fall into any of the categories below. You don't have to be politically correct, but you must maintain a minimum standard of behavior.

What can't I post?
Any content that is:

obscene
illegal
threatening
malicious
defamatory
spam

Yeah, Fris noticed. That's why you got the red cards. If you're sorry, you'll avoid getting another one.

I posted here Because a mod told me to post in the mod section, no other reason. The Moderation forum is where you seek help, or clarification, or respond to mod comments on your posts or others'. This is also where players say how they respond to a particular complaint. It's all in the stickies at the top of the forum. Heikoku's "not a mod" comment just means that he has information to give, but, since he's not a mod, it's not official.
