100px x 100px, or 19.5kb, whichever is the smaller. It's in the User CP, under "Edit Avatar".
I think it stops you if it's too big anyway, like the NS custom flag thing.

Also, it only allows certain file types, according to my experience with it. I was only allowed to post a .gif file.

Strange. I got away with a .png (my flag).

I think mine's still a basic .jpg file. I think that's what my old flag was, and I just used Paint to reduce the dimensions to fit the avatar requirements. I don't think I changed the formatting.
I like how the size limitation is high enough for decent .gif animated avatars. I may play around with that some time.

Well Jolt is silly to me at times. I tried every image file name under the sun, and it always came back saying invalid file type.

Jolt is not going to allow players animated avatars, as far as I know.

But...but...miss, miss, you have one! Or is that just a mod privilege?

Well yeah, I think she is exempt since Kat's avatar is 128 pixels to begin with, over 100.

Don't think of animated avatars as a mod privilege. Think of it as yet another way we can torture players.

But... but my avatar is a 1-frame animated PNG!
(sorry, couldn't resist. Please be gentle, mods!)
