Flamebaiting

So, I'm trying not to respond to the flamebait I'm getting from Hotwife in this thread:

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13926095&posted=1#post13926095

It's been going on for a few pages now and he seems to be building steam. The last time I responded to his flamebaits I got modsmacked and I'm looking to avoid a repeat of that incident. If his flamebaiting was at least on topic I wouldn't bother bringing it here but it's also a threadjack attempt and I'm trying to conduct a genuine discussion here.

If it's any help, from the position of an 'impartial observer' (well, atheist... :P) Hotwife is well on the way of ruining a perfectly civil debate on Christian theology; not something we often have on NS:G.

I could almost understand if he was posting his own queries, but when he's simply C&P'ing to try and show that the LDSers are weird, it's bad form. Not, IMHO, actionable, but it's not nice to see a good thread ruined.

Neo is flaming and trolling by doing this thread in the first place - he's setting up strawmen to show (in his mind) that the evangelical Christians are of one mind, and are somehow critically wrong.

Just putting up opposite evidence.

If I'm flaming, then he's trolling mightily.

Just as a suggestion, the same resolution that you gave to Neo Art and I would be good - in that case, we aren't allowed to discuss the Second Amendment again - make it so that neither of us can discuss the LDS church or Evangelicals again.

That would permanently put the fire out.

Neo B, this is, as usual, Hotwife's standard posting methods. I have opted for ignoring his rants and flaming. It's not even worth getting worked up about it. But, I'm not a mod. This is just my humble opinion. ;)

This is the umpteenth thread from Neo B, where he says that the LDS is great, the Evangelicals are wrong, and the flames ensue from there.

It's intolerant flaming to post the OP in the first place.

Yeah I'm not worked up, but my concern is that it could spread and result in a threadjack.

Actually, all I've been doing is asking questions. Relevant questions, thanking people for their answers, and requesting clarification where needed. If that's trolling, then civil discussion is trolling. My conduct in the thread speaks for itself.

My first answers cannot possibly be construed as trolling, and yet you don't even bother to answer or refute them. Relevant and TRUE answers.

It seems you don't like the truth.

We don't have this problem in threads where you don't bring up LDS.

I also resent your automatic classification of any correction by me, or any disagreement with me (even when I post links proving my point) as "a pissing match".

If people don't agree with you, they don't have to. It's called argument, not a pissing match. I don't have this problem with a fair number of people because they understand what "argument" means.

Ya know Hotwife, if it's not a pissing match, why does it look like you're trying to get the last drop in?

This is Moderation, not General, right?

Why don't you just moderate yourself, rather than pushing it to the level that you need someone else to step in and say "You can't do that any more because you have demonstrated that you can't do so in a mature manner"?

If you know that you will get yourself in to trouble discussing LDS and Evangelicals, don't. If you know that putting your face on a hot stove is a bad idea, don't.

Of course, I'm not a mod. It just seems somewhat...well, sensible.

I suspect it's because his goal is to prevent me from discussing my religion on here.

I'm thinking you linked to the wrong post. I see one where you're responding to Hydesland. I'm really not in the mood to read many many pages of material I have no interest in to track down the issue.

I can find no flaw in this suggestion, apart from the fact that I don't think Hotwife has any interest in self-moderation.

If that's the basis of your argument, then I'll save the trouble of any additional research. The fact that you think his religion is wrong and yours is right is in no way a violation of site rules on Neo Bretonnia's part.

If you consider that justification for flaming, then I'll be glad to give you a week's vacation for every time you flame him or flamebait LDS members in general. This is a place to discuss religion, not shut down discussion over your own intolerance.

You can either argue politely, or you can stay out of the threads, or you can be banned. Your call, Hotwife.

Yeah I messed up. I meant to link to the thread itself not to an individual post, but yah... Sorry about that.
