New World Cup Discussion Thread

The New World Cup Discussion Thread has, over the last three pages, started to degenerate into an unwelcome spamming competition:

While a certain amount of off-topic discussion has always been tolerated as part of fostering a sense of community, this is getting ridiculous.

Taeshan in particular has continued to post spam despite regular warnings (some of them politer than others), and seems to be chronically incapable of using the edit button.

A mod warning may be appropriate. If this is considered a step too far, then a polite mod intervention short of a formal warning would be very welcome, thank you.

Edit:
The first manifestation of edit button aversion leading to a complaint from another nation takes place at the top of page 370:

Genuine thanks to Ardchoille for his intervention; much appreciated.

Though, just to clarify, it's the new discussion thread for the long-eunning World Cup - the oldest sporting competition in NS (since 2003, coming up to our 42nd edition) - not a discussion thread for a New World Cup.

Though I can see why that might not be clear from the title ;)

We've been running for so long that the old Discussion Thread collapsed under the weight of posts somewhere over 11,000 posts in, a year or so ago.

Do you want that title updated, or would it ruin the tradition? ;)

I got the point about the threads (mainly by having my View Posts setting reversed) -- just got lost in the forest of figures and capital letters. Links to single posts really are clearer than page references.

Discussion in the discussion thread has indeed now turned to changing the thread title. I don't want to pre-empt that, so one of us may be in touch soon.

Point taken about links to single posts. I thought it might be easier to see the overall context rather than several separate individual post links, but I appreciate that I was mistaken, and that individual posts would have been easier for you.

Thanks again, and we'll let the mods climb back into the cave now!

Mose well use this thread again, no point in making another specific thread.

After discussions on the thread, I think the general concensus is to change the Thread title to

"The World Cup Discussion Thread II"

(Those involved in the World Cup should know that Vephrall approved this)

Title changed.
