Given that there's a Mod in there being active, I would assume that the thread has been OKed.

I see opinion posts from the original poster, though not in the first post. I also see bold type in the first post, indicating to me that the OP thought those were worthy of notice.
We've got a bit of flexibility in our interpretation of the rules. Sometimes the letter of the law defeats the spirit, so we try to avoid that.
