Satire spreading to another thread.

The antagonist of the previous Moderation request is again putting the "satirical" position in another thread.

I think this is a slightly different case, though. Hammurab's opinion was put reasonably at first in the "And the award for irresponsible bogan parents goes to ..." thread, giving people time to decide if the opinions are serious.

Here, he's gone in hard with the "mock flaming." Anyone who hasn't seen his posting style before is going to find that quite offensive, I proffer. And that could lead to flaming, not least because the thread was started by Andaras.

It also looks a bit like he's tagging New Malachite Square who tried to address Andaras's posted link and comment seriously. I'm not sure if that's an offence in itself.

I'm not going to say "M*ds only" but please people, don't debate, flame or spam in Moderation.

To be fair, I was kind of egging Hammurab on, or at least attempting to do so. I would not have shut the door on some egging on, should the opportunity have presented itself.

Did you just put an asterisk in the middle of the word "Mod" the same way my Moreh puts a dash in the middle of the word "G-d"?

If I've learned anything, its that some people need more "time to decide if the opinions are serious" than others.

Not serious? Oh. So it's trolling. Nobel Hobos will be glad to know I am not debating here but simply stating pure fact.

On topic for the issue of moderation at hand:

Just because something isn't "serious" doesn't make it trolling. While concepts like treaties, legal discourse, and the disclosure of human passing should naturally be rendered solemnly, I think there is a substantial body of literary, poetic, political, and historical work that demonstrates clearly the value of not limiting ideas to banal and clearly manifest renderings.

The issue at hand is not whether my posts are "serious" or whether "not serious == trolling".

The issue is whether they are designed to simply arouse anger, or whether there is any meaningful depth that gives potency to critique by braiding it with irony.

Right, right. So when you say, "Fuck you, Jew" and "Hebe" and "Junglebunny," it's really just brilliant political satire which I, in my cruelty and tyranny, am just failing to understand.

Fair enough. It's also trolling, flaming and flamebaiting.

This has been adequately addressed elsewhere. Closing.
